CJP activists chased, attacked during Rajasthan school visit as BJP faces blame

Members of the Cockroach Janata Party were chased and attacked on Thursday while visiting a government school site in Rajasthan’s Jaipur district, with car windows smashed during the confrontation, according to videos and reports from the scene.

The group, led by CJP co-convenor and spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka, had gone to inspect a school in Rampura-Kanwarpura village and was later forced back by local residents in Bagru village, where the exchange turned physical. The incident comes after the party’s earlier school campaign in the state has repeatedly drawn confrontations on the ground.

Video shows verbal clash turning physical

Video shared by Press Trust of India showed CJP activists walking toward villagers before being stopped, pushed away and chased off. In the footage, members of both sides can be seen arguing before the situation escalated. Stones were pelted, and the windows of cars carrying the delegation were damaged.

Ranka said the team had gone to inspect a government school that, he claimed, had been operating in poor condition for years. The delegation had also recently visited Jodhawas village in Jalore district, where Ranka sat in protest with schoolchildren after a school roof collapsed, according to a report.

CJP blames BJP workers

Abhijeet Dipke, founder and convenor of CJP, accused “goons of the BJP” of attacking the party workers and said Rajasthan police stood by without acting. In posts on social media, he questioned how police could allow such an attack on volunteers visiting government schools.

Rajasthan’s opposition Congress also condemned the violence, saying the attack reflected political attempts to shield poor infrastructure in public education. The ruling BJP rejected the accusation. One BJP response mocked the party’s name and denied the charge that its workers had carried out a “goon attack.”

The clash has sharpened political tempers in Rajasthan, where education conditions and school safety have become part of a wider fight between parties. No immediate police response was included in the available reports. The next test will be whether authorities open a formal inquiry into the confrontation and the damage left behind in Bagru.
