Two cyclists died and a third was injured after a white Ford Focus hit a group of riders in Kent on Sunday morning. Police arrested three people as investigators sealed off the road near Gravesend.
Kent Police said the car was travelling along Sole Street in Cobham just before 07:50 BST when it was involved in a collision with three cyclists. Emergency crews confirmed a man in his 60s and a woman in her 50s had died at the scene.
A third cyclist was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries, police said. The road was closed while officers began their investigation.
Arrests after the collision
Two men, aged 20 and 21, were arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. A 19-year-old woman was detained on suspicion of assisting an offender.
Kent Police did not identify those arrested. It also did not give details on whether the cyclists or the people in the car knew each other.
The force has appealed for witnesses, including anyone who saw the vehicle or the cyclists before the crash, to come forward. Officers are trying to piece together the moments before the impact on the road in Cobham, a village close to Gravesend in southeast England.
