You Haven’t Pre-Ordered iPhone Duo? Wait Until January

Apple’s iPhone Duo delivery estimate had moved to January 22 within hours of pre-orders opening, leaving many buyers facing a long wait. If you haven't pre-ordered iphone Duo, the online store may no longer offer delivery near the planned October 23 launch.

GSMArena checked Apple’s online store in the US, Canada, the UK, Germany, France, India, Australia, New Zealand and China. Each showed January 22 as the shipping date, including across different color and storage options.

Limited supply meets strong demand

Apple had planned to begin shipping the foldable phone on October 23, after a week of pre-orders. Some customers are still expected to receive their devices on that date, but the online estimates suggest most buyers will wait longer.

The shortage appears to extend across the product range. GSMArena noted that higher-storage 1TB and 2TB versions did not show better delivery estimates, although customers often gravitate toward less expensive models. That points to constrained supply across configurations rather than a delay affecting only one version.

For customers, the immediate consequence is uncertainty over when a new phone will arrive. Anyone hoping to get an iPhone Duo near launch may need to check a physical Apple store or look at third-party retailers, where some units could be available outside Apple’s own inventory.

Apple’s online store listed in-store pickup as “Check back for availability on October 24”. The notice does not confirm that units will be available then; it asks shoppers to check again. Retailer stock may differ, but the source did not confirm availability at any specific third-party seller.

Analyst points to a production shortfall

Analyst Jeff Pu had warned last month that the iPhone Duo would be hard to buy this year because of limited supply. According to GSMArena’s account of Pu’s forecast, Apple will produce 6 million units this year, down from an initial target of 7 million.

GSMArena contrasted that forecast with expectations that Apple will sell a combined 72 million iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max units by the end of the year. The comparison highlights how much smaller the projected iPhone Duo supply is, though those figures refer to different measures: production for the foldable and expected sales for the two Pro models.

The first wave of iPhone Duo pre-orders covers more than 70 countries and regions, GSMArena reported. Its list included Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Colombia, France, Germany, India, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Singapore, South Korea, Turkey, the UAE, the UK, the US and Vietnam.

Shipping dates also vary by market. GSMArena said the device would begin shipping in the Philippines on October 30, while the Dutch Apple website showed an estimated delivery date of January 25. The dates underline that buyers may see different timelines depending on where they order.

For now, Apple’s online store remains the clearest signal of the wait in the markets GSMArena checked: its displayed shipping estimate was January 22.
