Eight crash-and-reboot bugs are among 21 issues Google says it has fixed in Android 17 QPR3 Beta 2, now rolling out to Pixel devices. The update targets problems ranging from failed mobile services to glitches in the lock screen and media controls.

Google released the beta as it continues work on Android 17 QPR3, ahead of a planned stable launch in March 2027. The release is available for a broad range of compatible devices, from the Pixel 6a through the Pixel 11 series, as well as Pixel Tablet and Pixel Fold models.

Crashes, calls and connectivity

Repeated crashes during ordinary use accounted for eight of the listed issue reports. Google also addressed unexpected shutdowns during WhatsApp video calls and a problem that could prevent cellular data, MMS and hotspot services from connecting.

Some fixes are more visible in daily use. The Internet tile in Quick Settings could keep showing text when mobile data was active without Wi-Fi. On the lock screen, ongoing notifications could overlap other elements and make panel animations stutter.

There are smaller interface repairs, too. A pin icon could appear out of place beside pinned apps in the share sheet, while the media-output dialog could ignore the system’s monochrome theme when an external audio device was connected.

Lock-screen controls and customization

Beta 2 also includes a lock-screen setting that requires users to unlock their device before changing Quick Settings tiles for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, airplane mode or mobile data. The option first appeared in Android Canary 2609, according to the release coverage.

Google’s beta rollout is intended for testing, not a final release. Compatible Pixel owners can install it using Google’s step-by-step update process, while the company and testers continue identifying changes before the planned stable launch. The source material lists 21 fixes, though the available details do not enumerate all of them.
