NBA 2K25 Servers to Shut Down, MyCareer Access at Risk
NBA 2K25 servers close after Dec. 31, 2026, cutting off MyCareer and MyTEAM. Owners can still play selected offline modes after shutdown.

For NBA 2K25 players, the server shutdown will also mean losing access to MyCareer and MyTEAM, not just online multiplayer. Publisher 2K plans to remove the game from digital storefronts on Oct. 30, 2026, and end online services after Dec. 31, 2026.
The schedule and affected modes were reported by IGN on Oct. 5. Players who own the game before it is delisted will still be able to download it again and play some offline modes, but the game’s online features will no longer work once service ends.
NBA 2K25 servers: which modes will remain?
2K says Play Now, MyNBA, The W and MyWNBA will remain playable after the online shutdown. Those modes offer continued access for existing owners who want to play without connecting to the game’s servers.
Online multiplayer, Online Leagues and community-sharing features will stop working. The distinction matters for players deciding whether to buy the game before it leaves digital stores: owning a copy preserves access to some content, but not the full experience available while the servers are active.
MyCareer is particularly affected because its progression system and use of Virtual Currency (VC) depend on a connection to 2K’s servers. Once service ends, players will no longer be able to earn VC, and MyCareer and MyTEAM will no longer be available.
That server dependency means MyCareer’s single-player story does not guarantee continued access after the shutdown. Players who still want to complete it, or use online features, face a firm deadline. Offline options remain, but they are limited to the modes 2K says will continue to work.
A deadline for digital purchases
After Oct. 30, 2026, NBA 2K25 will no longer be available to buy through digital storefronts. Existing owners can redownload the game, according to the source report, and play selected offline content after the online service ends.
NBA 2K25 was first released in September 2024, and the series has since moved on to NBA 2K27. The game’s online services are scheduled to run through Dec. 31, 2026; they will end on Jan. 1, 2027.
Players who want to keep using the offline modes should make sure they can access their download before the delisting date. Online access has a separate cutoff: service ends after Dec. 31, 2026.
