DETROIT — The general motors set report is due before the bell Tuesday, with Wall Street analysts expecting the automaker to post $48.70 billion in revenue and adjusted earnings per share of $3.63. Investors are also looking for a possible change to the company’s 2026 forecast, a decision that could shape expectations for General Motors and the U.S. auto industry.
Executives are scheduled to hold an earnings call with analysts at 8:30 a.m. ET. The results will show whether the company met expectations after reporting $48.03 billion in revenue in the previous quarter, according to Yahoo Finance.
The revenue estimate points to a broadly flat result compared with a year earlier, while adjusted earnings per share would mark an increase of roughly 30%, CNBC reported, citing average estimates compiled by LSEG. General Motors reported $48.59 billion in revenue, $1.3 billion in net income attributable to stockholders and adjusted earnings per share of $2.80 in the third quarter of 2025.
Guidance and 2027 expectations in focus
Investors will watch for any increase to the automaker’s 2026 guidance and for early indications of what executives expect next year. Wall Street expects 2027 to be difficult for the U.S. automotive industry, CNBC reported.
General Motors raised its forecast when it reported second-quarter results. The company projected adjusted earnings before interest and taxes of between $14 billion and $16 billion, or adjusted earnings per share of $12 to $14. Its forecast for adjusted automotive free cash flow was between $9.5 billion and $11.5 billion.
Analysts are divided over whether the company will raise the forecast again, with concerns about slowing sales and rising commodity costs weighing on expectations, according to CNBC. That decision matters beyond the headline earnings figure: guidance would give investors the company’s latest view of costs, cash generation and demand in a market Wall Street expects to face a tougher year ahead.
JPMorgan analyst Rajat Gupta said in an Oct. 11 investor note: “While we expect in-line to slightly better 3Q26 prints, investor focus is likely to be on 2027 revisions and we don't see results driving meaningful upside,”
Product launches and services also on the agenda
There are other questions for the earnings call. CNBC reported that investors will look for updates on General Motors’ launch of redesigned full-size pickup trucks, improvements to its warranty performance and growth in software and service operations.
Those updates could help investors assess how the company’s business is changing beyond the quarterly totals. The earnings release and executives’ comments are expected before the bell Tuesday, with the conference call scheduled for 8:30 a.m. ET.
