Sony Unveils Transparent PS5 Prism Collection, Preorders Nov. 10

Sony goes transparent PS5 with the Prism Collection, a set of DualSense wireless controllers and console cover plates that reveal parts of the hardware inside. The accessories come in Flare Orange, Emerald Green and Graphite Gray, with preorders opening November 10, 2026.
The collection gives the console and controllers a see-through look without making the entire exterior transparent. Sony’s cover plates show the PS5 fan through their upper sections, while the controllers expose key components and switches.
That is the visual change. The release also gives PS5 owners a new choice of accessories, though the cover plates’ compatibility has not been confirmed for every console version.
What the Prism Collection reveals
The transparent elements are placed differently across the two product types. On the console covers, a clear section in the upper half reveals the fan. On the DualSense controllers, the design lets users see more of the internal components and switches.
Sony has announced three color options: Flare Orange, Emerald Green and Graphite Gray. The colors apply to the Prism Collection accessories, which pair the translucent treatment with the existing PS5 hardware design.
The console covers are the less certain part of the announcement. Sony’s accompanying press release does not say whether they will fit every PS5 model or only the newer Slim and Pro models. That could affect which owners can use them, so buyers will need to check compatibility before ordering.
Prices and sales timing
The Prism Collection DualSense wireless controllers are priced at $85/€85/£75. The console covers cost $75/€75/£65.
Preorders begin November 10, 2026, while open sales are scheduled for February 4, 2027. The gap between those dates means customers can reserve the accessories before general sales begin, but the announced schedule does not establish which console models the covers support.
For players considering a cosmetic refresh, the distinction matters: the controllers and covers share the transparent design, but only the covers raise a model-compatibility question. Sony’s announcement centers on the appearance of the hardware, with the fan and controller internals turned into visible parts of the design.
The Prism Collection’s open sales are scheduled for February 4, 2027.
