Man Utd vs Spurs ended in a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford after Dominic Solanke scored a stoppage-time equaliser for Tottenham, who were down to 10 men. Bryan Mbeumo had given Manchester United the lead, but the late goal extended United’s winless run in all competitions to four games and brought boos from home supporters.

Rodrigo Bentancur was sent off after a headbutt on Luke Shaw, leaving Tottenham short-handed before Solanke rescued a point. The draw leaves Manchester United with one win from six Premier League games and in 12th place, according to Sky Sports.

Late goal compounds United’s frustration

Manchester United took the lead in the 73rd minute when Matheus Cunha and Mbeumo combined for the goal, according to ESPN’s match account. Tottenham had been the more dominant side in the opening period but did not convert their chances.

Bentancur, who came on as a substitute, was shown a red card 12 minutes after his introduction. ESPN reported that the dismissal followed a headbutt in Shaw’s direction. Tottenham still found an equaliser: Solanke’s header beat goalkeeper Senne Lammens 120 seconds into added time.

The result carried a sharp cost for the home side. United had moved into a position to win, then failed to protect the lead against 10 opponents. Manager Michael Carrick told BBC Match of the Day that the team had been in “a great position” and needed to manage the closing stages better.

“That's two late goals which have hurt us, and things look very different. That's the reality,” Carrick said, referring to late goals conceded by his side. He also said the boos at half-time and full-time hurt because he cares about the club, while acknowledging supporters’ disappointment.

Man Utd vs Spurs leaves both sides with concerns

Tottenham manager Roberto de Zerbi said his team had deserved to be two goals ahead at half-time, then suffered early in the second half. He described the red card as “the switch” and praised the reaction that followed it.

Solanke said Tottenham had played well before the break and showed character by taking something from the match after going a goal down and then a player down. He said he had wanted to keep taking chances and was thankful to score.

For United, the dropped points came with a demanding run of fixtures ahead. Sky Sports reported that Carrick’s team were due to travel to Atletico Madrid for a Champions League match before a Premier League trip to Leeds. Gary Neville warned that United could face “a worrying few weeks” if the players did not improve their mental and physical performance.

Neville questioned whether the midfield pairing of Youri Tielemans and Kobbie Mainoo had enough dynamism, while saying he was not “calling time on it”. He also argued that the crowd’s frustration reflected what supporters saw as a lack of energy and effort.

Tottenham remain in search of their first win of the season, ESPN reported, with Coventry City next on their schedule. At Old Trafford, the final score was 1-1.
