Anthropic IPO Filing Could Come as Soon as Friday

Anthropic could publicly file its IPO prospectus as soon as Friday, a step that would give investors their first detailed view of the artificial intelligence company’s finances and risks. The filing would move it closer to a potential November listing, though the timing remains subject to market conditions and other factors.

Three people familiar with the company’s plans told Yahoo Finance about the possible timing. Anthropic did not respond to the publication’s request for comment. A public filing would also test investor appetite for a major AI offering as markets grow more selective about the sector’s heavy spending.

The company confidentially submitted a draft registration statement to the Securities and Exchange Commission in June. Under SEC rules, companies that use the confidential process must make registration materials public 15 calendar days before the start of a formal investor roadshow.

That disclosure would provide regular investors their first look at the details behind Anthropic’s rapid growth, alongside the risks and costs associated with it. The prospectus filing is a procedural step, not confirmation that the offering will proceed on a fixed schedule.

Growth meets infrastructure costs

Anthropic generated $16.3 billion in revenue in the first six months of 2026 and reported a net loss of over $80 billion, according to a Tuesday report by The Wall Street Journal cited by Yahoo Finance. The company is spending billions on AI infrastructure to train and run its Claude models.

Its computing arrangements include work with Google and Amazon, as well as rented graphics processor unit capacity from SpaceX’s Colossus 1 data center. Those costs will be among the details investors can examine if Anthropic makes its registration materials public.

The Financial Times reported that Anthropic told investors at its San Francisco office last week that revenue reached $16.8 billion in the third quarter, up from $11.5 billion in the second quarter. The newspaper also reported that the company was profitable on an adjusted basis.

Yahoo Finance said Wall Street expects Anthropic could raise as much as $100 billion at a $2 trillion valuation, citing Reuters’ earlier reporting. That expectation is not a confirmed offering target from the company.

Investors weighing the AI trade

The potential offering arrives as the IPO market faces fresh pressure. Earlier this week, South Korean data center provider Elice shares fell 32% on their first trading day after the company raised $151 million. Nvidia-backed Firmus Grid shelved plans for a public listing earlier this month after investors balked at its proposed valuation, while other companies have postponed listings citing market conditions, Yahoo Finance reported.

Publicly traded AI companies have also faced scrutiny as investors question the scale of spending required to build computing capacity. Yahoo Finance pointed to CoreWeave, where investors have raised questions about future revenue prospects relative to its debt load. The shift suggests investors are examining whether growth can justify the costs, rather than backing AI-related companies indiscriminately.

The decision carries implications beyond Anthropic. One person familiar with the plans told Yahoo Finance that, given the offering’s expected size, its timing could matter to other companies seeking to go public in the coming weeks.

Anthropic’s Claude chatbot, Claude Code coding tool and Claude Cowork have helped the company establish a foothold in the enterprise market, according to Yahoo Finance. Its possible public filing would expose more information about the business to investors as they assess both that commercial growth and its infrastructure bill.

Rival OpenAI, which had initially been expected to launch an IPO this year, is now projected to reach public markets in early 2027, Yahoo Finance reported. Anthropic’s next step depends on whether it makes its S-1 public as soon as Friday; the company has not announced a confirmed listing date.
