Anthropic plans to list on the Nasdaq under ticker symbol “ANT,” as the AI lab’s public offering filing puts its infrastructure spending plans in focus. The company expects to spend at least $542 billion on data centers in coming years, according to the headline and live coverage published by CNBC.

The filing marks a step toward the public market for the company behind Claude. Investors will be weighing its growth ambitions against the scale of the computing infrastructure it says it will need.

Nasdaq listing plan and spending burden

Anthropic disclosed its plans in a Form S-1 filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission. The company had confidentially filed with the regulator in June, giving the agency time to review its financials before the information became public, CNBC reported.

The anticipated listing arrives as companies across the AI sector face questions about whether revenue from AI services can justify the vast infrastructure costs. CNBC reported that concern has weighed on data-center-related businesses, with so-called neocloud companies CoreWeave and Nebius losing over 30% of their value in October as credit risk rose across the sector.

That pressure matters for prospective investors because data centers require substantial capital, while returns depend on demand for computing services and the companies’ ability to turn that demand into revenue. Anthropic’s stated spending expectations put that trade-off directly into view. The filing does not remove the uncertainty around how quickly the spending will translate into financial results.

Claude growth and public-market scrutiny

CNBC reported that Anthropic’s expansion accelerated in 2026, driven largely by the popularity of its AI coding tool Claude Code and models including Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5. The company has been competing with OpenAI and Google while facing criticism over its positions on safety, regulation and national security.

CNBC’s report also said Anthropic disclosed an $80.7 billion loss in the first half of 2026. The filing therefore presents investors with both the company’s growth story and the financial burden accompanying its push to expand computing capacity.

Redpoint Ventures managing director Erica Brescia described Anthropic’s business and profitability trend positively in comments to CNBC. “Look, it's an absolutely blockbuster business. I think the positive trend in profitability is extremely impressive, especially given how early it is in this AI transformation that we're in the middle of,” Brescia said.

Axios Business Editor Dan Primack said the filing showed a shift in how Anthropic talks about funding its computing needs through public markets. “They're looking for scale, they're going to spend an absolute fortune on compute. That's what's going to bring them here,” Primack told CNBC’s “The Exchange.”

CNBC reported that employees and early investors will be able to sell shares on the first day trading begins, with scheduled dates for further lock-up expirations. The approach differs from the traditional IPO process, in which insiders are unable to sell shares for 180 days after a company’s market debut.

The proposed Nasdaq ticker is ANT, and Anthropic expects to spend at least $542 billion on data centers in coming years.
