Apple has unveiled a new iPad mini and signaled more launches this week, starting a run of announcements ahead of the company’s event scheduled for Wednesday, October 28. The tablet brings an OLED display and A20 Pro chip, while the timing and details of other expected products remain unconfirmed.
Greg Joswiak, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, described the week as “exciting” in a post on X. He called the tablet “the biggest update ever to iPad mini.”
The new model gives buyers a refreshed screen and chip, but the larger question is what Apple will announce next. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has suggested that Macs could arrive before Wednesday’s event, with a touchscreen MacBook Pro potentially following on the day.
What Apple has announced so far
Apple’s new iPad mini has an 8.5-inch OLED display with a resolution of 1512x2316, according to GSMArena. It runs on the A20 Pro chipset and has an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance. The device measures 5.4mm thick.
Joswiak’s post highlighted the OLED display, water and dust resistance, improved audio and a thinner, lighter design. His comments establish that the iPad mini is the first confirmed announcement in the company’s launch week, not necessarily the only one.
More devices are expected. Their schedule is still uncertain.
Mac announcements remain a forecast
GSMArena reported that Gurman believes Apple often holds a Wednesday event after several days of product announcements. He pointed to the company’s March 4 event, which followed multiple launches and included the MacBook Neo.
Based on that pattern, Gurman said an M6 iMac and MacBook Pro arriving before Wednesday, followed by a touchscreen MacBook Pro at the event, “would make sense.” The report also says Apple is expected to show touchscreen MacBooks this week, alongside an OLED iPad mini and an M6-powered 14-inch MacBook Pro and iMac.
That proposed sequence is not an Apple-confirmed timetable. The new iPad mini is the product Apple has actually announced; the Mac details and rollout order remain reporting and informed speculation, as GSMArena described them.
For people considering a purchase, the distinction matters: the iPad mini’s specifications are public, while the Mac models, features and arrival timing have not been confirmed by Apple in the cited report. The scheduled Wednesday event gives the company a near-term point to clarify what else is coming.
Joswiak’s post framed the announcements as a week-long rollout, but offered no product dates beyond the iPad mini’s reveal. Apple’s event is scheduled for Wednesday, October 28.
