Final Fantasy 14 director Naoki Yoshida announced that here's ff14 evercold release will begin with early access on February 19, 2027, followed by the full launch on February 23. The new dates, revealed at Final Fantasy 14 Fan Festival Tokyo, push the expansion beyond the January timing previously promised.
The change gives players a later arrival date for the next chapter of the MMORPG. Yoshida apologized for the delay and said the team wanted more time to deliver on commitments made for Evercold.
When does FF14 Evercold release?
Evercold early access starts February 19, 2027, and the full release follows on February 23. Yoshida announced both dates during the Tokyo keynote.
“We put forth every effort to get this done at the end of January,” Yoshida said. “This is being done to make sure we can deliver on the many promises we've made. We appreciate your understanding as we near the finish line.”
The announcement replaces the previously promised January timing. For players planning around the expansion, early access and the full launch are separate dates: the first begins February 19, while the complete launch is set for February 23.
What is the Zephyr job?
Yoshida also revealed more about Zephyr, a ranged physical damage job that uses a crossbow and fights alongside an avian familiar called a Nephele. The job’s origins on the Source trace to the northwestern mountains of Ilsabard, while players can begin learning it from Gridania.
Zephyr starts at level 90, ten levels below Evercold’s starting point. It uses only the new Evolved Mode and has no Reborn Mode form. Yoshida described it as a pet job built around coordinated attacks and party support.
“It's been a while since we introduced a proper pet job, so what do you think?” Yoshida said. He added that Zephyr works with its bird companion “to unleash powerful coordinated attacks as well as provide party support.” The job also uses movement abilities for positioning and evasion.
The reveal gives players a clearer picture of how the new role will function: damage comes through cooperation between the player and the Nephele, while movement and support are also part of its design. Zephyr had appeared briefly in the main story of patch 7.56 before Yoshida’s fuller presentation.
Which locations and characters appeared?
The keynote showed more of Evercold’s environments, including Sessrymnir, the Realmship of Earth. Its landscape features open fields above networks of tunnels and underground mines and caverns filled with glimmering rocks.
Yoshida also introduced Skiðblaðnir, the Realmship of Wind. The region uses wind technology across its environments and is home to the Köttr, a new race of dwarf-like cats, as well as engineers who build most of the Fourth’s ships.
The expanded trailer featured Visna, a pink-haired Miqo'te previously seen in the recent main story, taking action as a Zephyr. Yoshida also identified a newcomer accompanying Alphinaud as Lagertha, first mate of Naglfar, the Realmship of Water. Baldr, the red-haired Roegadyn associated with the other new job, Bastion, was also confirmed by name.
Yoshida’s announced schedule sets Evercold’s early access for February 19, 2027, with the full launch following on February 23.
