Samsung mocks iphone duo display cracks in a campaign launched this week on its Canadian Instagram account, using images of a bright line across the foldable phone’s inner screen. The posts turn reported display problems into a jab at Apple’s new device.

The campaign arrives as some iPhone Duo owners have reported cracks near the hinge. Apple says a small number of units are affected and advises customers experiencing display issues to contact AppleCare for a replacement.

What did Samsung show in the campaign?

Samsung shared three images depicting a bright line through the part of the screen where some iPhone Duo models have experienced problems. One image carried the phrase, “Folding. We know a thing or eight.”

A Samsung spokesperson described the work as a “playful new campaign” that draws on discussion of the “growing rivalry in foldables and how experience plays in the category.” The company’s post appeared on its Canadian account.

The visual reference is specific: shortly after the iPhone Duo launched, some customers encountered hinge problems that led to cracks in the inner display. Affected phones appear to break in the same area, with a bright line visible on the OLED screen.

What has Apple said about the display problem?

Apple said early user response to the iPhone Duo had been positive and that developers were updating apps to use its form factor. The company also acknowledged an issue affecting a small number of units.

Apple’s guidance is direct: customers who experience display problems should contact AppleCare for a replacement. That gives affected owners a route for seeking help while reports of cracks circulate.

The issue matters because the display and hinge are central to the device’s folding design. For customers considering the phone, reports of damage and Apple’s replacement guidance are part of the ownership picture, alongside the product’s app support and availability.

How does the phone compare with Samsung’s foldable?

Samsung has spent years in the foldable-phone category. Its first foldable smartphone arrived in September 2019, and the company introduced the eighth-generation Galaxy Z Fold8 three months before the iPhone Duo debuted.

The two devices also have different starting prices. Apple’s iPhone Duo starts at $1,999 for 256GB of storage, while Samsung charges $1,899 for the same capacity.

Availability differs as well. Online iPhone Duo orders are backordered until January, although Apple has had some in-store stock intermittently. The Galaxy Z Fold8 has no apparent supply shortage, with many colors and storage capacities listed for delivery on November 3.

Samsung’s ad turns that product rivalry into a pointed visual comparison, while Apple’s public response acknowledges the inner-display issue and directs affected customers to AppleCare.
