Courtney and Sev won the 2026 season of The Block and secured a $1.87 million prize, the largest in the show’s history. The friends also donated $75,000 to My Room Children’s Cancer Charity after their House 4 auction.

The pair said the donation had been part of their plan if the auction result put them in a position to give. They also pushed back against criticism of their budget and design choices during the competition.

“People didn’t like us from day one,” Courtney said in an interview. Sev agreed, saying the criticism began “from the get-go.”

Their win followed a season in which host Scott Cam repeatedly warned them about their budget. Courtney and Sev continued with ambitious designs and custom pieces through the final week, but said viewers missed the points at which they brought their spending within budget.

“And they failed to see that we obviously brought in our budget, from Week 3, 4, 5, 6,” Courtney said.

Sev, an interior designer, said the strategy behind their renovation choices was deliberate. The friends argued that negative views of them had formed early and were difficult to change, regardless of their decisions during the show.

“The way that Courtney and I approached the strategy of what we wanted to do was thought out - I think - and it paid off for us,” Sev said. “It’s sort of like, just because you didn’t come up with it, don’t be mad at us.”

The result was still sinking in after the auction. Courtney described the day as frightening, saying the pair were nervous and shaky before learning the outcome.

Sev’s husband, Nelson, supported the friends through their four-year effort to get onto the show. Sev said he helped them make audition tapes and backed them throughout the 12 weeks of filming.

The win also leaves Courtney and Sev to divide the $500,000 in Scotty’s Prize Pool. They joked that they have their eyes on some of the same items, while Sev said Nelson would join a mediation over how they split the money. The $15,000 Rolex watch was another possible point of discussion.

Why did Courtney and Sev donate $75,000?

The friends said they had decided during the show to donate if House 4 sold above a certain figure. Their auctioneer had a link to My Room Children’s Cancer Charity, and the team hosted 18 families at the house a couple of weeks before auction day.

“The kick that we got out of that day, and what we were able to give those families just felt so beautiful,” Sev said.

The donation came from the cash prize portion of their result. The friends said the charity challenge helped them see an opportunity to support the organization if their auction went well.

“After we did the charity challenge, we saw an opportunity there that if we did make a buck [on auction day], and we were in a position to make a donation, that was always high on our agenda,” Sev said.

They ultimately donated $75,000 to My Room Children’s Cancer Charity.
