DEPOK — Indonesia’s national palm oil industry is once again preparing to face global challenges through SIEXPO 2026. Now in its fourth year, the exhibition is not just a product showcase, but a center for technology and innovation exchange for the entire palm oil ecosystem, from large corporations to smallholder cooperatives.
This year, participant enthusiasm has risen significantly. A total of 184 exhibition booths are ready to greet visitors, up from 150 booths in the previous edition. Organizers are even targeting attendance of up to 8,000 people, sharply higher than last year’s 6,000 visitors.
Integrating AI Technology in Plantations
The palm oil sector is no longer only about seeds and fertilizer. SIEXPO 2026 is giving a major platform to the adoption of digital technology and artificial intelligence (AI) in plantation operations. These innovations are seen as crucial to boosting productivity and cutting operating costs amid global economic fluctuations.
SIEXPO 2026 Executive Chair Qayuum Amri stressed that collaboration is the key. “We want to build synergy so that various technological innovations emerge to support the palm oil industry, while also being aligned with President Prabowo’s Asta Cita program,” he said in Depok, West Java, on Friday (6/26).
A range of modern solutions will be showcased in full, from drone use for land mapping, digitalized logistics systems, to more advanced workplace safety devices. The organizers’ one stop solution concept ensures that business players in both upstream and downstream sectors can find what they need in one location.
Space for SMEs and Cooperatives
Unlike large-scale industry exhibitions that are generally exclusive, SIEXPO 2026 is opening its doors wide to grassroots economic players. A total of 20 dedicated booths are provided free of charge for SMEs and farmer cooperatives. The move follows the organizers’ philosophy: strengthen the small, expand the medium, and protect the large.
According to Sawit Indonesia Marketing Director Yasin Permana, the involvement of SMEs is intended to strengthen the palm oil ecosystem as a whole. “Usually exhibitions are only attended by large corporations. From the start, we have involved farmer cooperatives, universities, and palm oil schools so that real knowledge transfer can happen,” Yasin said.
Concrete support comes from various parties, ranging from major plantation companies such as PalmCo and Triputra Agro Persada to associations including GAPKI and Apkasindo. This cross-sector participation is expected to help maintain the resilience of the palm oil industry, which has proven to be strong during the 1998 monetary crisis and the Covid-19 pandemic a few years ago.
Conference Agenda and Business Transactions
The exhibition will feature more than product displays. Over three days, organizers will hold a series of conferences featuring 20 expert speakers. The topics are highly technical, covering crucial issues such as downstream industry development and AI implementation in palm oil mills.
For business players, SIEXPO 2026 is a crucial transaction venue. Experience from previous years shows that many business deals are actually finalized after the exhibition ends. It is no surprise that international visitors from neighboring palm oil-producing countries such as Malaysia and Singapore regularly attend the event to explore cooperation opportunities.
Organizers are also scheduling a field trip to palm oil industry sites as the closing event. The final visit location is still being determined to ensure participants get firsthand experience of how technology is applied in the field.
