West Sumatra Teachers Give $3,070 for Solok Flood Victims
Pasaman Barat teachers gave 50 million rupiah for Solok flood victims, with 5 million rupiah allocated to each heir of a person killed.

SOLOK, Indonesia — Teachers from West Sumatra’s Pasaman Barat regency have donated 50 million rupiah (about $3,070) to people affected by flash floods in Solok, including families who lost relatives in the disaster. The funds were handed to Solok’s Bunda Guru organization for distribution.
The floods struck the Arosuka area in September 2026, leaving deaths and hardship for residents, including people living near the Solok regency government offices. Heirs of those killed are to receive 5 million rupiah each (about $307), according to the organizers.
Cash aid directed to bereaved families
The donation came from the Pasaman Barat Teachers Association, known as PGRI, and Bunda Guru Pasaman Barat, a teachers’ community organization. Bunda Guru Solok will pass the assistance to people in need, including the heirs of those who died.
Sifrowati, head of Bunda Guru Pasaman Barat, said the visit and donation expressed solidarity with Solok residents. She said the support was intended to ease some of the burden on bereaved families.
“We hope this assistance can slightly ease the grief of the victims’ families. We also hope Solok regency will recover as it was before,” Sifrowati said.
For families coping with a death, the cash provides direct support. The visit also brought a message of solidarity from another part of West Sumatra while residents continue to deal with the effects of the floods.
Solok officials thank visiting group
Kurniati, head of Bunda Guru Solok, thanked the Pasaman Barat organizations for coming in person and supporting affected families. She said the assistance was especially meaningful for people who had lost relatives.
“On behalf of the community and the victims’ families, we express our thanks and appreciation for the attention and concern of all of you. May all this kindness become a good deed and be rewarded by Allah,” Kurniati said.
Solok Regent Jon Firman Pandu also thanked the group. He said the flash floods had caused deep grief, with loss of life and consequences for residents around the Arosuka government-office area.
Jon said support from different parties mattered to residents facing a difficult period. He hoped the money would reach eligible recipients and directly benefit families of those killed.
The organizers’ stated distribution plan sets aside 5 million rupiah for each heir of a person killed. The total donation is 50 million rupiah, delivered to Bunda Guru Solok to pass on to recipients.
