SlashGear’s gardening guide names the Leatherman Rebar, Super Tool 300 and Skeletool CX among multitools suited to smaller outdoor jobs. The 5 best leatherman multitools can offer handy ways to cut thin materials, make quick repairs or check a measurement, but they are not substitutes for dedicated garden tools.

That distinction matters in the garden. A multitool can help when a larger tool is not close at hand, while trowels, clippers and knives remain the better choice for shaping a garden bed and handling regular gardening work.

Which Leatherman multitools suit small garden jobs?

The Rebar packs 17 tools and costs $99.95 on Leatherman’s website, according to the guide. Its saw can cut small pieces of wood, while the ruler helps check measurements before cutting. The wire cutters can also handle thin metal structures such as chicken wire and trellises.

Not every feature is equally useful outdoors. The Rebar also has a bottle and can opener, wire crimper and wire strippers; the guide notes that these may be less essential for garden work. Three screwdrivers can come in handy when tightening or loosening screws on garden beds and other small structures. The handles are advertised as comfort-focused.

The Super Tool 300 takes a more fully equipped approach. Priced at $119.95, it has 19 tools and a stainless-steel, forged design that Leatherman advertises for sustained use.

More tools, more options.

For gardening, the Super Tool 300 includes multiple knives and saws, a ruler, a wood and metal file, and several screwdrivers for quick repairs. Its sloped design is intended to improve maneuverability, and the grip is designed for comfort. The guide also highlights three removable wire cutters: stranded, hard and regular. Their removable design allows users to take them off for repair or replacement.

Is the Skeletool CX a simpler option?

The Skeletool CX has seven tools that fold out and costs $99.95. The guide presents it as a pared-back choice for people who would rather carry fewer functions than manage a more heavily equipped multitool while working in the garden. Its sheath is sold separately, and the model comes in several color schemes.

That lighter tool set also means fewer built-in options than the Rebar or Super Tool 300. The choice depends on the kind of small jobs a gardener expects to tackle: the Rebar offers 17 tools, while the Super Tool 300 brings 19 and three removable wire cutters. The Skeletool CX keeps the count to seven.

For occasional cuts, measurements and minor fixes, these multitools can fill gaps when larger equipment is unavailable. They do not replace hand trowels, clippers or knives for shaping a garden bed, so the practical value is as a compact supplement rather than an all-in-one gardening kit. The listed prices are $99.95 for the Rebar, $119.95 for the Super Tool 300 and $99.95 for the Skeletool CX.
