SURABAYA — East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa reminded 29,869 students who passed the third stage of the New Student Admission System (SPMB) for public senior high schools and vocational schools to complete re-registration according to schedule. Quick action is crucial amid the fierce competition for public school seats in East Java this year.
Thousands of new students risk losing their admission rights if they miss the specified deadline. Any empty seats left by participants who do not re-register will be immediately transferred to fill the quota fulfillment path.
“Don’t fail to re-register. Because you are competing with hundreds of thousands of other applicants. If you were accepted, it means you met the verification and validation requirements for documents, including adequate score requirements,” Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa said in Surabaya on Sunday.
Seat Forfeiture Sanctions and Empty Quota Reallocation
East Java’s SPMB has now officially entered the final stage for the Academic Achievement track for public senior high schools. Competition on this track is extremely tight because out of a total of 62,056 applicants in the third stage, only 29,869 students were declared to have passed the selection.
The East Java Education Office (Dindik) has set the re-registration deadline for those who passed through June 27, 2026. East Java Education Office head Aries Agung Paewai emphasized that the system will automatically deem late participants as failed in this final verification process.
Empty seats from participants who withdraw or do not re-register will later be transferred to the quota fulfillment track. The quota fulfillment track is scheduled to open on June 29, 2026, starting at 09.00 WIB through the official portal spmbjatim.net with an automatic selection system based on final score ranking and the participant’s domicile distance.

Opportunity Through the SMK Academic Achievement Track
For students who were unsuccessful in the previous three stages, Khofifah urged them not to be discouraged. The opportunity to enter public schools remains wide open through the fourth-stage registration for the SMK Academic Achievement track.
The East Java provincial government continues to push for stronger SMK quality through curriculum alignment with the business and industrial sectors (DUDI). In addition, the 3+1 Overseas Employment Program for SMK students from the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education has made SMK graduates highly competitive in the international job market.
Data from the East Java Education Office shows concrete results from this program. A total of 1,734 SMK alumni from East Java are now actively working as formal migrant workers abroad, while 3,186 students from 115 public and private SMKs in East Java are preparing to take part in international internship programs this year.
Aries Agung Paewai explained that registration for the SMK Academic Achievement track opens from June 30 to July 1, 2026. Prospective participants only need to log in to the spmbjatim.net system using their National Student Identification Number (NISN), registration PIN, and the issue date of their Family Card (KK).
On this SMK track, each prospective student is allowed to choose up to three areas of expertise, either at the same school or at different schools within or outside their domicile rayon.
