Prabowo Calls Police for the People Theme on Point
President Prabowo says Polri’s 'Police for the People' theme fits perfectly, praising its role in security, Free Nutritious Meals kitchens, food resilience, and public service.

BOGOR — National stability is the main foundation for the economic growth acceleration targeted by the government over the next decade. Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto underscored the strategic position of the police institution in maintaining that security while attending the 80th Bhayangkara Day ceremony at the Brimob Training Center, Cikeas, Bogor, Wednesday (1/7/2026).

In his speech, Prabowo praised this year’s commemorative theme, namely ’80 Years of Dedication of the National Police for the Community’. For him, the theme is not merely a slogan, but a moral compass that must be firmly held by every officer in carrying out duties in the field. Security is no longer just a matter of public order, but an absolute prerequisite for investment inflows and the running of development.

“This year’s Bhayangkara Day theme, Police for the People, is very appropriate. This is identity, the direction of service, and it must become a moral compass for every Bhayangkara member,” Prabowo said before senior police officials and attending officers.

Stability as a Condition for Prosperity

The President emphasized that economic growth and investment cannot be realized without maintained security. He linked the role of the National Police to the major transformation being carried out by the government, from the food and energy sectors to bureaucracy and education. Prabowo believes it is impossible to achieve justice if the government is not clean and full of competence.

According to him, the success of a civilization depends heavily on the quality of police officers trusted by the public. “There can be no prosperity without stability. There can be no development without security. The role of the police is very decisive for the nation,” he stressed.

Data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) over the past several years has indeed shown a positive correlation between the security perception index and regional economic growth. In areas with low crime rates, investor interest in placing capital tends to be higher, which in turn creates new jobs. For business players, legal certainty and field stability are key variables before making expansion decisions.

Accelerating the Free Nutritious Meals Program

Beyond highlighting security, Prabowo gave special appreciation for the National Police’s active involvement in supporting government programs. One of them is the construction of Nutritional Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) or nutritious meal kitchens.

Internal police data shows the institution has built more than 1,000 kitchens to support the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program. The President even did not hesitate to call the quality of the police-built kitchens the best and recognized by international observers for their distribution efficiency.

Priority Program Police Contribution
Nutrition Provision 1,000+ Free Meal Kitchens
Food Resilience Construction of food warehouses
Basic Access Clean water provision/drilled wells

Beyond kitchen infrastructure, the police are also seen as playing a major role in food resilience through the construction of high-quality food warehouses as well as providing clean water access in various remote areas. These efforts are clear proof of the state’s presence amid the basic needs of the public, especially in areas that have long struggled to access clean water fit for consumption.

Transformation of the National Police

Entering its 80th year, the National Police face challenges that are far more complex than in the past. Security threats are no longer only physical, but also cyber. President Prabowo implicitly touched on the need to modernize the main weapon system and improve personnel competence to confront new forms of crime that exploit information technology.

The dedication of field officers who work day and night to maintain national order remains the police force’s main selling point in the eyes of the public. The President wants the National Police to become an excellent institution that is truly desired by all Indonesian people. He highlighted the police’s work in the field, from helping residents affected by disasters to building vital infrastructure such as bridges in remote areas.

Actions such as building emergency bridges or providing medical aid in isolated regions are seen by Prabowo as manifestations of service that must be preserved. This spirit is key so that the police remain loved by the people as protectors and servants. This closeness to communities at the grassroots level is the last line of defense in facing social polarization that often emerges amid the dynamics of national politics.

The government plans to increase the operational budget allocation for the police to support humanitarian missions integrated with national development programs. The police are expected to become a strategic partner in ensuring the effectiveness of development spending, making sure every rupiah spent by the government reaches the right target without leakage.

This concrete step marks a new chapter for the police in solidifying its role in its eighth decade. The increasingly dynamic security challenges require the National Police to keep adapting while remaining steadfast in the roots of its service: protecting, guiding, and serving all Indonesian people without exception. Going forward, the public will continue to watch how the police respond to these high expectations through real performance in the field.
