Family of Bharada Hafizh Seeks Justice Over Alleged Extortion, Unpaid Salary

JAKARTA, JOURNALARTA.COM – Ikmal Hakim filed a complaint to House Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives on Tuesday (23/6/2026) after feeling the internal police channels failed to deliver justice over allegations of bullying, extortion, and physical violence experienced by his son, Bharada Muhammad Hafizh Pratama, an active member of Satbrimob of the Bangka Belitung Regional Police.

The trip to Senayan was not the first step. Long before this, the family had approached the leadership of Satbrimob of the Babel Police, reported to the police internal supervision unit (Itwasda), the police profession and security division (Bidpropam) of the Babel Police, then moved up to the Brimob Corps in Kelapa Dua, Depok, and finally to National Police Headquarters. Every route had been tried. The result, according to Ikmal, was nothing.

Bank Balance Demanded, Refusal Ended in Beating

In his complaint letter, Ikmal described what he called a pattern of seniority that turned into systematic bullying. Hafizh was said to have been repeatedly asked to hand over his bank balance to several seniors, allegedly under the pretext of borrowing or exchanging funds.

If he refused, the pressure came. Threats. Even physical assaults that left Hafizh psychologically shaken.

“We have sought justice through official channels. But instead of protection, our child’s report was treated as a reason to avoid duty,” Ikmal said.

Hafizh’s psychological condition was reportedly serious enough to draw attention. When the family visited the Brimob Corps in Depok, the local Paminal unit suggested that Hafizh should serve temporarily at the Brimob Corps instead of returning to Babel because his mental condition was deemed not ready. For the family, that was proof the trauma was real, not fabricated.

But that hope was dashed. Soon after, an order emerged for Hafizh to return to his original unit in Bangka Belitung. He refused. He saw the source of the trauma as being there.

The family then went back to National Police Headquarters. Hafizh was even advised to undergo a psychiatric examination at the Kramat Jati Police Hospital to clinically confirm his mental condition.

Online Gambling Proven, Sanction Limited to Disciplinary Hearing

What angered the family even more was the outcome of an investigation by the Paminal sub-directorate of the Babel Police Bidpropam together with Satbrimob Provos. The investigation stated that the alleged extortion and threats reported by Hafizh were not proven.

But in the same document, four Satbrimob members were instead found guilty of disciplinary violations in the form of online gambling: Bharatu Muhammad Noverizal, Bharada Superahadi, Bharada Edy Mustofa, and Bharada M. Isnul Fajar.

The four names were only recommended for disciplinary hearings, then reportedly transferred out of Bangka Belitung.

“We do not understand the standard of justice used in this case. Online gambling was proven, yet the sanction was only a disciplinary hearing. Meanwhile, our child, who reported the case, had to fight his trauma alone,” Ikmal said.

National Police Chief instructions on online gambling inside the force have been firm, with officers involved subject to severe sanctions, including dishonorable discharge (PTDH). The family questioned why such a strong recommendation did not emerge in the Satbrimob Babel Police case.

Salary Said to Be Unpaid, Family Asks DPR to Step In

Hafizh still holds active police status. But Ikmal said his son’s rights remain problematic, including salary payments that he said have not been made.

“The ethics hearing result stated that as long as the PTDH decree has not been issued, the member’s rights must still be granted,” he stressed.

“The proof is that my son is still holding on as a police member. He still loves this institution. What we are seeking is not pity, but justice,” he added.

Through the letter sent to House Commission III, the family hopes the police oversight partner will step in and directly monitor the handling of the case. For Ikmal, this is no longer just a personal matter between a member and his seniors.

The case, he said, is a real test of the police’s commitment to eradicating online gambling within its own ranks, while also protecting members who dare to report instead of being cornered.

As of this report, the Satbrimob of the Bangka Belitung Regional Police and the Bidpropam of the Babel Police had not issued any official response to the complaint filed by Ikmal’s family to the DPR. (KBO Babel)
