Police say 27-year-old Djuarn Baker-Adams was found dead on Wednesday morning inside the Slacks Creek home of her ex-boyfriend, Logan musician MC Triks, whose real name is Ronald Cora. The 37-year-old rapper is charged with one count of murder, with the allegation carrying a domestic violence aggravation.
Emergency call from the house
Emergency services were sent to the Rowanda Street property about 12.30am after Cora called Triple Zero and reported that a woman was unresponsive following an alleged assault. Paramedics tried to revive Baker-Adams. She was declared dead at the scene.
Detectives allege Cora strangled his former partner. Detective Inspector Ian Galpin said preliminary investigations indicate Baker-Adams died of asphyxiation. Police arrested Cora at the home, where he was the only other person present.
Police had already been in contact
Galpin said police had spoken with Baker-Adams within the last 10 days about her safety and domestic violence concerns. That detail gives the case a brutal edge. She had already reached out for help.
The timing is now under close scrutiny, as investigators piece together what happened in the days before her death and whether any further intervention could have changed the outcome. Cora was refused bail and is due to face court on Thursday.

For Logan, the case has landed close to home. Cora was known locally as MC Triks, a musician with a public profile in the area. Now he faces a murder charge, and police say their investigation is continuing.
