Former 2GB broadcaster Jason Morrison told a Sydney court on Monday that guests at a lunch about 20 years ago joked that Alan Jones and a young man at the table looked like “a great couple”. The evidence came in Jones’ indecent assault and sexual touching trial at the Downing Centre Local Court.
Morrison said he attended the lunch where Jones was seated beside the complainant, identified in court as “C”. He told the court he saw Jones with an arm over “C”’s shoulder at one point, describing it as the kind of gesture people make while talking about someone. Calm voice. Short answer. No flourish.
‘Banter’ after the meal
When asked what happened once the meal ended, Morrison said some people made jokes about how Jones and “C” appeared to look like “a great couple”. He said the comments were “nothing else other than banter” and later described them as sarcastic.
Morrison said he did not remember hearing anything “horrible or harmful”. Asked by prosecutor Georgina Wright, SC, who had made the remark, he replied that “someone did, [it] could have been me, [I] don’t know”.

The lunch Morrison described took place about 20 years ago, according to his evidence. His account adds another layer to a case already turning on recollections from a social setting that is now being examined in court years later.
Jones, a well-known Australian radio figure, is facing charges in the Sydney court over alleged indecent assault and sexual touching. Morrison’s evidence focused on what he saw and heard around the lunch table, not on any alleged offence itself.
