Bulkhead’s Wardogs topped Newzoo’s September PC revenue charts, beating EA Sports FC 27 and reaching No.11 for monthly active users within its first three weeks. The Early Access shooter’s rapid start shows that a game does not need a full-price tag to compete for PC spending, according to Newzoo market analyst Mert Şahin.
Wardogs also entered Newzoo’s Top 20 year-to-date games spend chart at No.15. Marvel’s Wolverine ranked No.16, while EA Sports FC 27 and NBA 2K27 held the top two positions.

The revenue result came during Wardogs’ first three weeks on the market. The game, developed by Bulkhead, also placed No.11 on the monthly active user charts for PC, a separate measure of player activity.
Revenue and active users tell different parts of the story. Wardogs led the monthly PC revenue ranking, while its MAU position placed it among the most-played PC games on Newzoo’s chart. Both rankings arrived early in its Early Access run.
Newzoo shared the September rankings exclusively with GamesIndustry.biz. The PC revenue chart covers the US, UK, Germany, France, Spain and Italy.
“New releases claimed the top of the revenue charts, and mid-priced hits such as Wardogs showed that games don’t need a full price tag to compete,” Şahin said.
New releases compete as familiar games bring players back
Wardogs was among four new September releases to enter Newzoo’s Top 20 year-to-date games spend chart. The other titles included Marvel’s Wolverine, which ranked fourth on Newzoo’s console revenue chart after leading US September sales.
According to Circana, Marvel’s Wolverine recorded the highest monthly dollar sales for a Sony-published title since Helldivers 2. Halloween: The Game and The Blood of the Dawnwalker also reached the Top 10 for revenue on PC and console charts.
The monthly results included sharp movements beyond new releases. Early Access shooter Bodycam climbed 20 places to No.6 in PC revenue rankings after a major update and discount. DressMaker surged 4,698 places to No.20 after expanding from its earlier itch.io release into a full game launched on September 21.
Remedy’s Control Resonant debuted at No.18 in the Top 20 and ranked one spot higher on console. The company’s first self-published title became its fastest-selling game, surpassing one million units in its launch month.
Şahin said engagement gains came largely from familiar games, with a 1.0 release, seasonal updates, discounts and subscription additions appearing to bring players back. He said the rankings suggested that a crowded release calendar can make it harder for games to stand out, putting more weight on launch timing, pricing and reasons for existing players to return.
Newzoo’s September PC revenue chart placed Wardogs ahead of EA Sports FC 27.
