OpenAI Brings Interactive Visuals to ChatGPT With GPT-6

ChatGPT has mostly answered users with text, but OpenAI is adding a visual interface designed to make complex topics easier to understand. The feature, called Intelligent UI, begins rolling out Wednesday alongside the company’s GPT-6 model.
Its responses can include interactive charts, editable graphs, task-specific calculators and diagrams, rather than only static images. OpenAI says users will be able to work directly with many of the visual elements.
The feature will roll out globally to Pro, Plus, Business and Enterprise users with GPT-6. Free and lower-cost Go users are due to receive it Thursday, according to TechCrunch.
That could change how people use ChatGPT for practical questions, from understanding a mechanical process to planning a trip. The interface is also adjustable: users who prefer text-heavy answers can dial back the visuals.
How gpt chat will use visuals
OpenAI demonstrated Intelligent UI to journalists, showing the chatbot producing diagrams and other visuals to explain abstract topics. Product manager Aarush Selvan said the company wants people to use ChatGPT for everyday tasks as well as learning.
“ChatGPT has predominantly been a text-based interface,” Selvan said. He added that when people plan a recipe or trip, or try to learn something, “the most helpful answers aren’t just text.”
In one demonstration, Selvan asked the chatbot to “explore how an airplane wing generates lift.” ChatGPT produced diagrams intended to show how planes stay in the air.
OpenAI also showed visuals for recipes, a diagram about bicycle mechanics, a map for a multi-day hiking excursion and a personal savings calculator. The examples point to a broader shift in how the chatbot presents answers: instead of describing a process alone, it can offer a visual users can inspect or adjust.
OpenAI described the main goal as making “learning complex topics easier.” TechCrunch noted that a more accessible interface could also help ChatGPT appeal to a wider audience, though OpenAI did not state that as its aim.
The controls matter. Users who find frequent visual responses distracting will be able to reduce them, rather than being locked into a single presentation style. OpenAI has not provided further rollout details in the source report.
For people using the chatbot to learn or complete routine tasks, the change puts more of the answer on screen in a form they can manipulate. A calculator tailored to a task, for example, differs from a plain-text explanation because users can interact with the result directly.
Intelligent UI is scheduled to reach free and Go users Thursday, after its launch for Pro, Plus, Business and Enterprise users with GPT-6.
