Viral CPNS Selection on Social Media Confirmed as Hoax
BKN says viral CPNS 2026 registration posts are hoaxes and warns job seekers to avoid fake links and online fraud.

JAKARTA — The Viral CPNS Selection on Social Media Confirmed as Hoax, with Indonesia’s National Civil Service Agency, or BKN, saying the country has not opened Civil Servant Candidate registration for 2026 and has not released any official schedule for this year’s CASN selection.
The false posts, which have spread widely on messaging apps and social media, carry the biggest risk for applicants: fake registration links that can lead to data theft and financial scams. For people hoping to join the civil service, one careless click can turn into a much larger problem.
BKN warns against fake CPNS 2026 links
Acting head of the Public Relations, Legal, and Cooperation Bureau at BKN, Vino Dita Tama, said the posters circulating online are not official documents issued by the government. He said the hoax works because it exploits the strong public interest in civil service jobs, especially when the design looks neat and the timelines appear convincing.
“We ask the public not to easily trust information that does not come from BKN’s official communication channels or the Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform,” Vino Dita Tama said in a written statement.
He added that BKN has never worked with any tutoring provider or learning center that promises passing the selection. That matters because many of the fake posts try to sell not just a registration link, but also a shortcut to success. In practice, there is no such shortcut.
BKN said many of the fake websites use domains outside official government addresses. That makes them dangerous. Once users enter personal details, the data can be harvested and misused for fraud, including illegal online loans or identity-based scams.
Why the hoax is dangerous for applicants
The risk is not limited to a lost login or a dead link. The fraud pattern is more serious than that. Fake pages are often built to resemble the official SSCASN portal, the online system used for state civil service recruitment in Indonesia. The difference may be small, but it is enough to fool someone in a hurry.
That is where the damage starts. Victims may be asked for a National Identity Number, family card data, or even a selfie while holding an ID card. Those details are valuable to criminals. In the wrong hands, they can be used to open the door to further scams, fake loan applications, or account takeovers.
This is why the warning matters beyond Indonesia’s borders too. The civil service exam attracts huge attention every cycle, and that attention creates a predictable target for cybercrime groups that trade in personal data. When a public recruitment drive becomes a magnet for fake links, the problem shifts from a local rumor to a wider digital security issue.
CPNS 2026 is still in preparation
Rini Widyantini, Indonesia’s Minister for Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform, said her ministry is still collecting formation proposals from ministries, agencies, and regional governments. That process comes before any official quota is set and before registration can be announced to the public.
The government is mapping staffing needs at both central and regional levels. Budget capacity also plays a role. The quotas must match actual needs on the ground, which is why the review takes time and cannot be rushed just because social media says registration is open.
The sequence above explains why applicants should treat every unverified post with caution. The announcement will come only after the verification stages are complete. Until then, the government says there is no valid registration link for CPNS 2026.
Official channels to check
BKN urged the public to rely only on official digital channels for civil service updates. The agency said the recruitment process is free and will be published transparently through government platforms, not through random accounts promising fast access.
| Institution | Official channel | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| National Civil Service Agency | bkn.go.id | Technical policy and general announcements |
| SSCASN portal | sscasn.bkn.go.id | Online registration and document upload |
| Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform | menpan.go.id | Formation approval and selection rules |
For applicants, the practical lesson is simple. Prepare documents early, but do it through the official portals and not through forwarded links. Diplomas, transcripts, identity cards, and other files should be ready before registration opens, because administrative mistakes often become the reason a candidate fails at the first screening.
BKN also said authorities will take firm legal action against anyone proven to have spread fake links and misleading information about the national recruitment process. “Do not trust sources outside the official channels,” Vino Dita Tama said.
