JAKARTA, JOURNALARTA.COM — The 2026 World Cup Bracket Update for Round of 16 Live: Full Bracket + Qualified Teams on June 23 shows an empty knockout bracket for now, but the tournament map is already starting to come into focus. As of June 23, 2026, Matchday 2 in the group stage is still not fully complete, so no team has officially sealed a place in the Round of 16.

That delay matters. FIFA’s expanded 48-team World Cup stretches the road to the July 19 final at MetLife Stadium, and every point in the group stage now carries more weight. The route is longer, the margins thinner, and one bad result can push a favored team into a tougher bracket line.

New format means a longer route

FIFA has split the 48 teams into 12 groups. From there, eight group winners, eight runners-up and 16 best third-place teams move into the Round of 32, with the Round of 16 only coming after that. The knockout road now runs through four stages: Round of 32, Round of 16, quarterfinals, semifinals and then the final.

That adds two extra knockout rounds compared with the 32-team format used since 1998. Simple math, bigger pressure. Any team that wants the title must win seven matches.

The bracket is also split into two major paths. The upper side sends the Group A winner toward one of the best third-place teams, while the Group B winner is lined up against the Group F runner-up. The lower side follows a similar structure. Exact positions will only lock in after Matchday 3 ends.

Status on June 23: nobody through yet

As of 10:30 a.m. WIB on June 23, 2026, no team had secured a Round of 16 place. That fits the timing. Teams still need results from all three group matches, and Matchday 3 will only begin in the next two to three days.

The early picture still matters, though. Egypt sits on three points after beating New Zealand 3-1 and looks closest to advancing. Belgium has one point after a 0-0 draw with Iran and remains alive. Ghana and Panama are still waiting on their Matchday 2 meeting, while Uzbekistan and Colombia will help decide the top end of Group B.

Group scenarios that could shift fast

Group G is the one to watch first. Egypt’s three points give it a clear edge, and a draw in Matchday 3 would be enough to advance. Belgium, with only one point, still has room to climb, but it needs a stronger finish and could drag other teams into the race for the last ticket.

Group H is still open because the Ghana vs. Panama game has not yet been settled in the data provided. The winner would reach four points and sit in the safest position for now. A draw would keep both teams tangled until the final group match.

Group B also carries weight. Uzbekistan vs. Colombia will shape the top of the table, and first place matters because it offers a more favorable position in the bracket. Nobody wants an early collision with another strong group winner.

Why this bracket update matters

For fans, the live bracket is not just a graphic. It changes which mornings or late nights matter most, who could meet in the first knockout round, and whether a favorite gets a softer or harder route into the last eight. For teams, one point can change the entire tone of the tournament.

Egypt is the clearest example. One more point in Matchday 3 would send it through to the Round of 32, which comes before the Round of 16 in this expanded format. Belgium still has a path, but it cannot afford another flat result. The gap between first and second in a group can shape the rest of the month.

Round of 16 schedule and viewing time

The Round of 16 is scheduled for June 29 through July 2, 2026, across host cities in the United States, Canada and Mexico. With the PDT time zone, a 7:00 p.m. kickoff there translates to 9:00 a.m. WIB the next day, so many matches will be easy to follow from Indonesia without a late-night watch.

TVRI Sport HD holds the broadcast rights for all Round of 16 matches, while TVRI Nasional will show selected marquee games. The full WIB kickoff schedule is listed on TVRI’s official page. FIFA.com remains the tournament format source, and the bracket will be updated once Matchday 3 finishes and the official results are released.

The next hard update should arrive after the final group-stage matches, when the first 32-team knockout field becomes real and the bracket starts filling for good.
