Bernie Taupin Rilis Album Solo Pertama dalam 40 Tahun

Dari lagu sedih sampai hubungan panjang dengan Elton John

Menjelang perilisan album, publik sudah bisa mencicipi potongan awal lewat episode baru podcast Sad Song Queens yang tayang 29 Juli.

Podcast yang lahir pada 2025 itu dipandu Laura Webb dan Lindsay Wolfington, dua music supervisor yang membedah satu lagu sedih sebagai pintu masuk ke cerita personal para musisi.

Nama-nama seperti Mumford & Sons, Finneas, David Gray, Ashe, Band of Horses, The National, Christina Perri, Snow Patrol, dan The Fray pernah menjadi tamu.

Taupin disebut tampil natural dan terbuka di sana. Wolfington mengatakan, “He may be painted as a shy person or afraid of the spotlight but he isn’t. He wanted to tell the story of his life in these songs on the new album and record them in an intimate way,” Wolfington says.

Webb juga menyoroti sisi Taupin sebagai penulis yang khas. “Bernie is one of the most prolific songwriters in the world.

He specializes in melancholy, character-driven storytelling, and profound vulnerability,” says Webb, who calls Your Song “truly one of the most perfect songs there is… When Bernie walked into the studio and saw our Sad Song Queens logo, he said, ‘You know I wrote a song about sad songs.’ To which we said, ‘Oh we know.’ He was so genuine and approachable.”

Di sini, Taupin juga membahas pandangannya tentang lagu sedih.
