The appointment gives Inter Miami a fresh start at a key moment. Gonzalez arrived in South Florida today and, after completing the necessary procedures, is set to officially begin his duties under a contract running until June 2028.

Inter Miami said in an official statement that Gonzalez “arrived in South Florida today and is set to officially take charge of coaching Inter Miami.” The club added that, after the paperwork is complete, he will begin work with the first team.

His coaching path has been built step by step. Gonzalez started with the reserve team of CA Rosario Central and, two seasons later, moved up to the first team, where he managed 68 matches across three seasons.
He later took charge of CA Union Santa Fe, leading the club in 78 matches over three seasons from 2023 to 2025. Most recently, he served as head coach of CA Platense during the 2025 season.
What the move says about Inter Miami
The timing of the appointment suggests Inter Miami want control, continuity and a quick reset before the clash with Cruz Azul. Gonzalez inherits a squad already built around major expectations, and his first real task is simple on paper and difficult in practice: settle the group fast enough to compete immediately.
His background as a former midfielder also brings experience from both Argentina and Europe. Before moving into coaching, Gonzalez came through the youth ranks of Rosario Central and made his first professional appearance for the club in 1993.
He later played for Boca Juniors, joined Spanish club Real Zaragoza in 1996 and went on to spells at Valencia and Inter Milan. With Valencia, he won the Spanish Super Cup during the 1999-2000 season. In Italy, he lifted two consecutive Coppa Italia trophies.
Inter Miami now turn that resume toward a first assignment that leaves little time for bedding in. Wednesday evening will tell the club plenty about how quickly Gonzalez can shape the side, with Cruz Azul standing in the way of his opening night.
