Jambi Plans Firefighting Gear for 14 Community Fire Groups
Jambi plans firefighting pumps for 14 community groups using presidential fire aid, but distribution awaits a provincial budget amendment.

JAMBI, Indonesia — A presidential grant for forest and land-fire response in Indonesia’s Jambi province is set to fund firefighting pumps, hoses and patrol motorcycles for teams working near fire-prone forests, but the equipment has not yet been distributed because a budget amendment is still being processed.
The province received 30 billion rupiah (about $1.84 million) from a total of 85 billion rupiah (about $5.21 million) allocated for fire response in Jambi. The planned equipment is intended for local forest management units and community fire groups, whose proximity to vulnerable areas can help shape how quickly crews respond when a blaze starts.
Fire pumps planned for 14 community groups
Jambi Forestry Department chief Andri Yushar said the procurement plan includes firefighting pumps, hoses and motorcycles for patrol officers. The department is targeting 14 community fire groups in areas prone to forest and land fires for the pumps.
Other equipment is planned for community fire groups and forest management units in the regencies, including teams operating around a grand forest park. The equipment is designed to support field operations: pumps and hoses for firefighting, and motorcycles to help patrol officers reach their assigned areas.
“Management of this assistance is focused on firefighting and fire-response infrastructure, such as procuring firefighting pumps, hoses and motorcycles for patrol officers,” Andri said in Jambi on Saturday.
The delay matters for residents living near forests. Local groups and forestry staff are among the teams positioned to respond in those areas, while the planned vehicles and firefighting equipment are intended to support their work once distribution can begin.
Provincial and regency allocations
Of the 30 billion rupiah assigned to the provincial government, the allocations listed by the Jambi Forestry Department include 18.786.254.000 rupiah for the provincial disaster-management agency, 6.569.907.000 rupiah for Raden Mattaher Regional General Hospital, 2.800.409.000 rupiah for the provincial health department and 1.843.430.000 rupiah for the forestry department.
The remaining assistance is allocated to regencies. West Tanjung Jabung, East Tanjung Jabung and Batang Hari each receive 15 billion rupiah, while Sarolangun receives 10 billion rupiah.
Jambi Governor Al Haris has said the funds must be used in line with applicable rules and technical guidance. He said operational support includes logistics and equipment for teams working in the field, and that spending must remain within the established requirements.
Andri said the forestry equipment cannot be handed over before the budget process is complete. “The distribution process is still waiting for the Regional Budget Amendment stage,” he said.
