JAKARTA, JOURNALARTA.COM — Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive have confirmed the long-awaited GTA VI Official: Price, Release Date, Map Details, Latest Features update, with the game set to launch on November 19, 2026 at a standard price of US$79.99.

The company also opened preorders on June 25, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, while PC players are still waiting for a release window. The reveal matters because it sets the commercial and technical shape of what is expected to be the biggest entertainment launch in years.

Price, release date and preorder terms

Take-Two Interactive confirmed the standard edition will sell for US$79.99. A Special Ultimate Edition will cost US$99.99 and comes with extra content, including exclusive vehicles, weapons and clothing for both main characters.

Strauss Zelnick, chief executive of Take-Two Interactive, said the company believes demand for the game remains strong even at a higher price point. He described that demand as inelastic, arguing that fans are likely to buy regardless of the premium. Take-Two is projecting US$8.2 billion in revenue in the next fiscal year, with GTA VI expected to carry much of that momentum.

Preorders started the same day the announcement went live. Anyone who orders before November 20, 2026 will receive the Vintage Vice City Pack, a bonus set of retro-themed in-game items. Digital buyers will also get one month of GTA+, which offers benefits across GTA V and other Rockstar services.

Zelnick said physical disc distribution will launch at the same time as the digital version. That decision is meant to reduce leak risks before release. Short sentence. Important one.

Why the launch plan matters

Rockstar’s rollout plan follows a familiar pattern. GTA V arrived first as a single-player game in 2013, and Red Dead Redemption 2 followed the same path in 2018. This time, the company will again launch the story mode first and bring GTA Online in several weeks later.

That delay is not just a scheduling detail. It gives players time to focus on the story campaign, and it gives Rockstar more breathing room to stabilize servers before what many expect to be an enormous first-week rush. For fans, that means the online experience will not be part of day-one access.

For the wider games market, the pricing will be watched closely. US$79.99 is already above the long-running US$69.99 premium standard in the industry, and the Ultimate Edition pushes the ceiling even higher. If GTA VI sells strongly at that level, other publishers will take notes. Fast.

Map, setting and technical details

GTA VI returns players to Vice City, the fictional Miami-inspired setting, inside the state of Leonida, which draws from Florida. Rockstar says Leonida’s world will be 1.5 to 2 times larger than the Los Santos map in GTA V.

The new map includes the Grassrivers swamps, the Leonida Keys islands, Ambrosia, Port Gellhorn and Mount Kalaga National Park. Rockstar says the world will be its most interactive yet, with more than 700 enterable rooms or buildings and more than 35,000 lines of dialogue for supporting characters.

Technical changes will also shape how the game feels. Rockstar says the physics system will be more realistic, including character weight changes, limits on how many weapons a player can carry and more lifelike glass-shattering effects. Those details may sound small. They usually are not. In a game this large, they change how movement, combat and exploration feel from minute to minute.

The story centers on two playable protagonists, Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos. Lucia stands out as the first female lead playable character in the GTA series in the current graphics era. Rockstar is building the plot around a modern Bonnie and Clyde-style partnership set in contemporary Vice City, with satire aimed at social media culture, police body-camera footage, creator economics and sharp inequality in the United States.

Confirmed supporting characters include Boobie Ike, Brian Heder, Cal Hampton, Dre’Quan Priest, Raul Bautista and Real Dimez. Take-Two says the game is built entirely by hand, not with generative AI, with development handled building by building and road by road.

Marketing is expected to accelerate after the World Cup ends at the close of June 2026. Rockstar is widely expected to release a third trailer between late June and early July, and that video could show gameplay and interface elements for the first time. The second trailer, which arrived in May 2025, already broke viewership records, and the next preview is likely to draw even more attention as fans look for the first clear signs that November 19 will hold.
