Five people were killed and 10 others wounded after a Ukrainian drone strike hit an industrial zone outside Moscow, local authorities said on Tuesday. The attack came as Kyiv also targeted two warehouses linked to Russian e-commerce giant Wildberries in separate strikes overnight.
Moscow regional governor Andrey Vorobyov said several fires broke out in the Novoselki industrial zone, south of the capital, after the strike. He said the dead and injured were found at the site, with one of the wounded in serious condition.
Warehouses hit near Moscow and St Petersburg
Ukraine has stepped up attacks on warehouses operated by Wildberries in recent weeks. In the latest round, two sites were struck overnight — one near St Petersburg and another north-west of Moscow. Officials also said a site linked to the company was damaged near the capital.
Wildberries, often described as Russia’s largest online retailer, has become a repeated target. Kyiv says the depots help supply the Russian military. Moscow denies that claim.
Vorobyov said a warehouse caught fire at an industrial site in Chekhov, on the outskirts of Moscow. He added that an electrical substation and an administration building were also damaged.
The governor said seven of the 10 injured were in a moderate condition. The attacks left burning buildings and damage scattered across the site. Local officials did not immediately confirm whether the deadly strike was on a Wildberries facility.
Drone exchanges keep escalating
Russia’s defence ministry said it intercepted and destroyed 320 drones overnight. Ukrainian officials have said their long-range strikes are aimed at civilian infrastructure in Russia, while Moscow has kept up its own barrages on Ukraine.
Russia also launched overnight strikes across Ukraine, killing at least three people, according to the source material. Another report cited at least four dead. The toll remains fluid.
Both sides have used hundreds of drones in repeated nighttime attacks, turning the air war into a near-daily exchange. For Russia, the latest strikes again pushed the violence closer to Moscow itself. For Ukraine, the warehouse hits show a continued effort to hit logistics sites far from the front line.
Vorobyov said the fires followed the drone strike in the Novoselki industrial zone. “According to preliminary information, five people were killed,” he said on Telegram, adding that 10 others were wounded.
