Villarreal vs Betis delivered confirmed lineups, a tense first half and a table-shifting result on Monday, with Real Betis winning 2-1 at Villarreal in LALIGA. Gerard Moreno put the hosts ahead, but Cucho Hernández and Natan scored before halftime to turn the game around.

Villarreal started with Carlos Romero, Georges Mikautadze, Nicolas Pépé, Gerard Moreno, Tajon Buchanan and Tani Oluwaseyi among their forwards, with Santi Comesaña, Pape Gueye, Nathan Saliba and Alberto Moleiro listed in midfield. The setup mattered. Villarreal’s front-heavy selection gave them moments, but Betis handled the pressure better once the game opened up.
After the break, Betis kept creating danger. Hernández had a shot blocked when well placed, Pablo Fornals miscontrolled a chance with only the keeper ahead of him, and Gulacsi made saves from Nelson Deossa and Antony. Betis did not kill the game off, but they did enough.
What the result changes now
For Betis, the win was enough to pull level with Real Madrid on points, while Barcelona stayed top with five straight victories. The visitors left Villarreal with three points and a stronger position near the top of the table.
For Villarreal, the picture is tougher. Inigo Perez's side are winless from five league games, sit 18th and now have a growing gap to close. Moreno summed up the mood to Movistar: "Right now everything's going against us, teams are punishing us," he said.
He added, "We have to stick together and demand more of ourselves... maybe when we go behind, anxiety kicks in and it's more difficult." Moreno also said, "It's hard to explain (how few) points we have... we have to be a team now more than ever."
Hernández offered the opposite tone from the winning camp. "We're calm but excited. Difficult moments will come, but unity, honesty and work are non-negotiables here," he said.
The bigger concern for Villarreal is simple. Five league matches have gone by without a win, and the points keep slipping away.
