LOS ANGELES — Presley Gerber, the model and son of Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber, died Sunday at a rehab facility, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner. He was 27.
The cause of death was not disclosed. A representative for Crawford and Rande Gerber confirmed the death and said the family was asking for privacy during what she called a very difficult and painful time.
Presley Gerber and his modeling career
Gerber was born in California in 1999 and was the eldest child of Crawford and businessman Rande Gerber. He was also the brother of model Kaia Gerber.
He signed with IMG Models at age 15 and made his runway debut in 2016 for Moschino’s Resort show in Los Angeles. Over time, he worked with brands including Celine, Calvin Klein, Dolce & Gabbana and Pepsi.
Variety and CNN reported that Gerber also appeared in campaigns for Burberry, Bottega Veneta, Tommy Hilfiger and Ralph Lauren, and was featured in magazines including GQ Style and The New York Times Style Magazine. CNN said he also worked as an investor and entrepreneur, according to a biography on DNA Model Management.
His modeling profile was built early. Fast, visible, and closely watched. That made his death land hard in fashion circles.
Mental health struggles were public
In recent years, Gerber spoke openly about depression, addiction and prescription medication use. On the Studio 22 podcast in 2023, he said mental health was “such a big part of my life.”
He added: “It is such a big part of my life. It’s a 24/7 job, and there’s so much to it.”
Gerber also said he hoped sharing his story would help others facing similar problems. “That’s really what I want to do: help people, whether you’re depressed, you’re struggling with something that is having a negative effect on your body. I mean it could be anything, and there’s no judgment,” he said.
The New York Times Style Magazine and other outlets covered his public reflections in recent years, while CNN reported that he ran a “Mental Health Mondays” initiative and worked with NGOs including A Sense of Home, a Los Angeles homelessness charity, according to DNA Model Management.
Gerber’s struggles also surfaced on social media. In a since-removed video posted in December 2025, he spoke about taking antidepressants and Xanax for panic attacks. In March, he shared a video captioned “Pre Ibogaine Flood Dose,” referring to a plant-based psychoactive compound that some people have begun using in efforts tied to mental health conditions and addiction treatment.
He also faced legal trouble in 2019, when he was arrested for driving under the influence in Beverly Hills. He was sentenced to three years’ probation and ordered to complete a DUI program and two days of community service.
In a July social media post, Cindy Crawford shared a photo of her son as a young boy, a reminder of how publicly the family had already lived through his rise, his struggles and, now, his death at 27.
