Apple Reportedly Plans Two October Product Launches, With Macs in Focus

Apple’s October plans could stretch beyond a smart-home push, giving Mac buyers another round of possible updates before the month ends. Multiple sources cited by MacRumors say the company is preparing a second set of product announcements for the final week of October, though the lineup remains unconfirmed.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has reported that Apple plans to unveil a new home hub, HomePod mini and Apple TV 4K on October 13. The later announcements may focus on Macs, according to MacRumors, which said it had heard from people familiar with the plans.

Macs are leading candidates

Possible products include a 14-inch MacBook Pro with an M6 chip and an iMac powered by the same processor. Apple could also introduce its long-rumored “MacBook Ultra,” described in reports as a thinner, lighter model with an OLED display. The exact products, however, have not been confirmed.

There is a separate Mac update already on Apple’s schedule: the company has said a high-end Mac Studio configuration with an M5 Ultra chip and 512GB of RAM will be available in “late October.” The reported launch window could therefore bring several Mac announcements close together.

iPad mini timing remains unclear

A new iPad mini is also expected this month, but reports have not pinned down when Apple might announce it. Rumored changes include an OLED screen, an A20 Pro chip, a front camera positioned for landscape use and a redesigned speaker system.

The tablet could join the home-focused announcements on October 13, appear with the possible Mac lineup later in the month, or be unveiled separately. Apple has not confirmed the reported launch plans or the products’ specifications.

The competing possibilities leave the iPad mini as the biggest question mark in a month that could span home devices, Macs and tablets. The second set of announcements is reported for the final week of October, but its contents remain unknown.
