Walt Disney Animation Studios has released a trailer and poster for “Disney’s Hexed,” adding a new animated adventure to hailee steinfeld movies. The film stars Steinfeld as a teenager whose newly discovered magical abilities take her from suburbia into a witch realm, with a cinema release set for November 27, 2026.
The story follows Billie Doe, an impulsive and unconventional teenager voiced by Steinfeld. Her powers send her into Hexe, where she must join forces with her cautious mother, Alice, voiced by Rashida Jones. The journey leads them to family mysteries that could change the world of witches.
Disney announced the trailer and poster on October 12, 2026. The studio says “Disney’s Hexed” will be released exclusively in cinemas, rather than describing a streaming launch.
That theatrical plan gives the film a clear place in Disney’s upcoming slate, while the story centers on a mother and daughter navigating a magical world together. For audiences, the central draw is the pairing of Steinfeld and Jones, set against a setting the studio describes as a vast witch realm.
Hailee Steinfeld movies meet a new voice cast
Steinfeld voices Billie, while Jones plays Alice. Walton Goggins voices Beef Roger Crummchuk, a reclusive magical cat with three eyes who forms an uneasy alliance with them. Jodie Foster voices Queen Celeste, whom Disney describes as a sinister figure determined to keep power over Hexe.
The cast also includes Henry Winkler as Nigel, a skittish, all-knowing potoo bird, and Dan Stevens as Hieronymous, the Queen’s blustering Grand Councillor of the Throne. Disney’s announcement names Tracey Ullman and Stephen Fry among the film’s other featured voices.
The additional voice cast includes Brett Gelman, Samson Kayo, Jimmy O. Yang, Ron Funches, Drew (McIntyre) Galloway, Cheri Oteri, Kathy Najimy, Wayne Knight, Alan Tudyk, Randall Park, Bill Farmer, Pat McAfee, Chris Parnell, Sarah-Nicole Robles, Rachel Dratch, Ariana Madix, Kellie Gerardi, Yvette Nicole Brown, Abraham Benrubi and Josh Dallas.
A large ensemble. But Billie and Alice remain at the story’s center, with their alliance shaped by the mysteries they uncover and the dangers of Hexe.
Disney sets the film’s cinema release
Fawn Veerasunthorn and Jason Hand directed “Disney’s Hexed,” with Josie Trinidad as co-director. Roy Conli and Yvett Merino produced the film. Walt Disney Animation Studios Chief Creative Officer Jared Bush and Dana Ledoux Miller wrote it.
The release announcement gives viewers a date to mark, while the trailer offers an early look at Billie’s discovery and the strange realm she enters. Disney lists the film’s exclusive cinema opening as November 27, 2026.
