Yellow Fog Warning Issued for Much of England and Wales Until Monday 11am
The Met Office issued a yellow fog warning from 6pm on Sunday, November 8, to 11am on Monday, November 9, covering most of southern England and the Midlands. Visibility may fall to 50 metres, with delays to buses, trains and flights possible.

The UK Met Office issued a yellow fog warning from 6pm on Sunday, November 8, until 11am on Monday, November 9, covering most of southern England, excluding the south-west, and the whole of the Midlands. Travel may be disrupted across the affected areas.
The forecaster said weather conditions are creating a "perfect recipe" for fog.
Where the warning applies
The warning also takes in pockets of northern England and Wales. Fog is expected in Liverpool, Sheffield, York, Cardiff and Wrexham.
The warning lists the East Midlands, East of England, London and South East England, North West England, South West England, Wales, West Midlands, and Yorkshire and Humber. The Met Office issued it at 09:58 GMT on Sunday.
Travel impact
The Met Office said fog could mean slower journey times, with delays to bus and train services possible. Visibility may drop to as little as 50 metres or less in parts of the UK.
There is also a chance of delays or cancellations to flights in and out of the country because of the heavy fog.
The fog may be densest overnight on Monday in rural areas such as parts of the Midlands, Wales and East Anglia. Air frost is possible.
Why the fog is forming
Niamh Murray, a Met Office operational meteorologist, said fog was likely to linger outside the warning zone too. "There is still going to be patchy fog elsewhere, just not quite as dense or as impactful," she said, naming parts of the West Country, Northern Ireland and the central belt of Scotland.
Murray told the Press Association that longer autumn and winter nights let temperatures fall away. Lower temperatures sit closer to the point at which air becomes saturated and forms fog.
Light winds are the other ingredient. "We just have the perfect recipe at the moment: light winds, clear skies, long nights, to allow that fog to develop," Murray said.
She added that where temperatures fall below freezing, "it can be quite stubborn to clear the next day."
Rain for the drought-hit south-west
Murray said rain following the fog could help the south-west, which has suffered droughts in recent months. The Environment Agency has declared severe drought there, and the declaration is still enforced.
"There is a chance that we might see some very slow-moving rain, and you could see potentially accumulations up to 50 to 70mm," she said.
