Markiplier Starts Little Nightmares II Playthrough Five Years After Release

Markiplier began a new playthrough of Little Nightmares II with a video published on July 9, 2026. The 58-minute episode, titled “Little Nightmares II - Part 1”, places the creator back in the series five years after Bandai Namco released the game.

The upload is current, but the game is not a new 2026 release. Bandai Namco’s official game page lists February 11, 2021 as the release date and identifies Tarsier Studios as the developer. The video documents a new creator playthrough of an established title rather than a newly launched game.

Markiplier returns to the Little Nightmares series

In the video description, Markiplier says it is time to play the sequel to a game he does not remember playing. His opening commentary makes the point more precise: he had forgotten that he previously played the original Little Nightmares, released in 2017, but says he had not played Little Nightmares II.

He explains that watching the Comprehensible Input Korean channel play the first game reminded him of the series. The same channel is linked in his video description, alongside the Distractible podcast. The description credits Nerd Fiction as the episode’s editor.

The opening portion follows Mono through the Wilderness, the game’s first environment. Markiplier works through the controls, reacts to televisions scattered through the setting and encounters traps in the forest. His commentary emphasizes that the movement has more depth than he remembers from the first game. The episode presents the beginning of Mono’s journey without treating the 2021 title as a new release.

Mono and Six face the Signal Tower

Bandai Namco describes Little Nightmares II as a suspense-adventure game about Mono, a boy trapped in a world distorted by the transmission of a distant tower. Six, the yellow-raincoat protagonist of the first game, accompanies him as a computer-controlled character.

According to the publisher’s official release announcement, Mono and Six must cooperate to solve puzzles, uncover secrets and escape hostile inhabitants. The announcement identifies the Hunter and the Teacher among the threats and names the Wilderness as the first level shown before launch.

The original release covered PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC. Bandai Namco said PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X versions would follow with free upgrades for existing owners. The publisher’s current game page also lists the Enhanced Edition and a Nintendo Switch 2 release dated May 29, 2026.

The official game page expands the premise across settings including woodlands, a school and the route toward the Signal Tower. Its central conflict concerns the transmission spreading through television screens and Six’s uncertain fate. These publisher details provide factual background for Markiplier’s reactions without speculating about the story.

A current video about a 2021 game

The episode therefore carries two dates that should not be confused. Little Nightmares II launched in 2021, while Markiplier’s Part 1 arrived on July 9, 2026. YouTube lists the video in its Gaming category with English-language metadata and a runtime of 58 minutes and one second.

Viewers looking for the original material can watch the episode on Markiplier’s channel and use Bandai Namco’s pages for the confirmed game premise, developer and release information. The available evidence supports a straightforward description: a gaming creator has started a new playthrough of an existing suspense-adventure game.
