JAKARTA — MRCCC Siloam Semanggi has launched four advanced AI-integrated medical technologies to overhaul its cancer care services. This initiative aims to address a critical hurdle in Indonesia's healthcare landscape: the high rate of late-stage cancer diagnoses, where patient outcomes significantly diminish.

The hospital, located in the heart of Jakarta, has integrated these AI-based devices to bolster its precision oncology capabilities. The technology suite includes the uMI Panvivo PET/CT, Symbia Pro.specta Q3 SPECT/CT, Spectral CT 7500, and the uAngio AVIVA Intelligent Angiography System. These tools cover the entire treatment journey, from initial detection and staging to therapeutic intervention and post-treatment evaluation.

The Urgency of Early Detection

Cancer remains a heavy burden for the global population. According to the 2022 Global Cancer Observatory (GLOBOCAN) data, there were approximately 20 million new cases and nearly 9.7 million cancer-related deaths worldwide. Indonesia accounts for more than 408,000 new cases and roughly 242,000 deaths annually.

The challenge is not merely volume. More than 70 percent of cancer patients in Indonesia present at advanced stages. This late diagnosis complicates treatment and drastically reduces the chances of recovery. By prioritizing high-precision diagnostic tools, the hospital aims to shift the treatment trajectory toward earlier, more manageable interventions.

Precision Through AI Integration

The four new systems serve as a cohesive technological ecosystem. AI plays a pivotal role here, assisting physicians in processing complex clinical data to enhance diagnostic accuracy.

Tries Nainggolan, Chief Executive Officer of MRCCC Siloam Semanggi, stated that this investment focuses on empowering medical professionals. "The focus is also to help doctors obtain more complete information so that clinical decisions are sharper," said Nainggolan.

This strategy aligns with the principles of precision oncology, which tailors treatment to the unique characteristics of a patient’s disease and individual biological profile. Moving away from a "one-size-fits-all" approach, the hospital seeks to provide more measurable and personalized clinical pathways.

Setting a New Standard

The facility is positioning itself as a leader in oncology by continuously upgrading its infrastructure. Beyond the four new imaging systems, the hospital previously collaborated with Siemens Healthineers to implement the Mammomat B.brilliant—an AI-powered mammography system designed to accelerate scanning times and improve patient comfort.

For patients, even seconds gained during a diagnostic scan can be critical. By integrating these systems, MRCCC Siloam Semanggi aims to ensure that physicians are equipped with comprehensive, data-driven insights when navigating the complex path of cancer care.
