Police said the confrontation unfolded on March 24 near Snowden Farm Parkway and New Cut Road in the Clarksburg area, before spilling into the 22700 block of Sweet Shrub Drive. What started as an argument between one boy riding with friends and a group of juveniles he knew escalated after everyone got off the bus. Fast.
From bus ride to stabbing
Investigators said the boy was beaten after the group stepped off the bus, then stabbed and robbed of his shoes. He went into a nearby business and employees called 911. The victim was taken to hospital with a stab wound police described as non-life-threatening. He is expected to recover.
Police searched the area and later took a 16-year-old boy into custody in connection with the Germantown case. A separate Daily Voice report also said a 16-year-old was in custody after a bus fight spilled into a street in Germantown.
Four teenagers have now been charged, according to Montgomery County police. A 14-year-old boy was charged as an adult with attempted first-degree murder and related offenses. A 16-year-old boy was charged as an adult with armed robbery and related charges. Another 14-year-old was charged as a juvenile with armed robbery, conspiracy, theft and second-degree assault. Police also said a 13-year-old faces a charge, though the specific count was not included in available reports.
Rising concern over youth violence
The case fits a broader pattern seen in recent months in Maryland and elsewhere, where disputes among teenagers have escalated around buses and stops, sometimes ending in stabbings or robbery charges. Similar incidents have been reported in Fresno, California, and Birmingham in Britain, where police also linked attacks to arguments on or near buses.
In Montgomery County, the investigation remains active. Police have not said what triggered the original dispute, only that it involved a group the victim knew. The injured boy’s trip home ended in a hospital. The suspects’ cases are now moving through the justice system.
