CrowdStrike shares fell 2.5% in morning trading as software stocks extended a selloff, putting CrowdStrike CRWD stock trades under pressure amid concerns about artificial intelligence spending and slowing software bookings.

The decline eased as trading continued. CrowdStrike shares rose to $249.64, still down 0.3% from the previous close, according to the figures in the company’s market update.

Investors have been reassessing software valuations as companies face growing artificial intelligence capital expenditure. The concerns also include slower bookings, which can signal weaker demand for software products.

Oracle filed to raise $20 billion through debt and equity, renewing investor concerns about the cost of artificial intelligence expansion and the cash companies are spending to support it. Quarterly reports from Alphabet and Amazon also highlighted large data-center outlays that weighed on free cash flow.

The selling pressure reached the wider technology sector. The Nasdaq fell the previous week, and its decline marked its steepest monthly drop in more than a year, according to the source account.

Cybersecurity stocks faced a separate source of pressure. Check Point Software shares fell after its third-quarter sales missed expectations, while the company warned that its recovery was taking longer than anticipated. That added to concern that enterprise firewall upgrades and security budgets could remain sluggish.

Bookings at Fortinet had also disappointed earlier in the previous week. Bloomberg Intelligence data cited in the account showed that 70% of S&P 500 software companies beat revenue forecasts this reporting season, indicating that a substantial share did not exceed those expectations.

For investors, the immediate issue is not limited to CrowdStrike’s own trading. The market reaction links software valuations to the cost of expanding AI infrastructure and to evidence of customer demand, while weaker results elsewhere in cybersecurity can weigh on sentiment across the sector.

The stock has been volatile. CrowdStrike shares recorded 30 moves greater than 5% over the last year, according to the source account. The latest decline was described there as meaningful to the market, but not as changing its fundamental perception of the business.

A previous sharp move came 10 days earlier, when the shares gained 7.1% as cybersecurity stocks rallied on concerns about a new wave of AI-enabled cyber threats. The source account said U.S. security agencies, including the National Security Agency and FBI, had issued urgent warnings about vulnerabilities in PHP. It also described a rush by cybersecurity teams to address the flaws.

That earlier rally reflected a different market concern: AI spending weighed on software valuations, while AI-enabled attacks were presented as a potential driver of demand for cybersecurity services. The two forces now sit alongside each other in investors’ assessment of the sector.

CrowdStrike is up 120% since the beginning of the year, but its $249.64 share price remained 10.5% below its 52-week high of $278.86 from October 2026. The source account also said an investment of $1,000 made five years earlier would be worth $3,724.

Further trading will show whether investors continue to focus on AI spending and bookings concerns or return their attention to cybersecurity demand.
