Galaxy S24 owners and users of older Samsung foldables are beginning to get the company’s latest Android software, widening an update that first reached its newest phones. Samsung is distributing Android 17 through One UI 9, though availability will vary by model and region.

The rollout to older devices follows Samsung’s announcement that One UI 9 began expanding on Sept. 16, starting with the Galaxy S26 series. The update had debuted on the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Fold8 and Flip8, according to the company.

A phased rollout across Galaxy models

Samsung is releasing the software in stages, rather than making it available to every eligible phone at once. Reports say the stable update has already reached some other devices, with the U.S. rollout also expanding to additional Galaxy models.

The Galaxy S24 and older foldables are among the devices now entering the rollout. Samsung has not provided a full schedule in the cited material, so the precise arrival time will depend on the device and market.

For owners, the staggered approach means two people with the same model may not see the update on the same day if they are in different regions. Samsung says the expansion will continue to more devices.

More older models are expected to follow

An independently compiled timeline, based on past release patterns and current leaks, suggests the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy Z Fold5 and Flip5, and Galaxy A36, A37 and A56 could receive One UI 9 by mid- to late October. That is an estimate, not a confirmed Samsung schedule.

One UI 9 adds new features alongside Android 17. Samsung says its My FanCam tool can track a selected person in a video and reframe the shot to keep them centered, reducing the need for manual editing. The company also describes enhancements to Galaxy AI, though the available information does not detail every feature or which devices will support each one.

Samsung has said it plans to extend the rollout to more regions and models. Owners can check their device’s software update settings as availability reaches their market.
