JAKARTA, JOURNALARTA.COM – Indonesia’s esports national team secured three tickets to the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya after the Merah Putih squad wrapped up the Southeast Asia regional qualifiers on June 19, 2026. The three confirmed events for Japan are Honor of Kings, PUBG Mobile, and Street Fighter 6.

This result gives PB ESI an early boost in its bid to chase gold medals at Asia’s biggest biennial sporting event. Two other events, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang and League of Legends, are still going through qualification, and there has been no official announcement yet on whether Indonesia has advanced or been eliminated.

In total, the 2026 Asian Games will feature seven official esports events under the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA). If MLBB and LoL also qualify, Indonesia could appear in five of the seven events.

77-0: Near-Perfect Honor of Kings Dominance

The most striking number came from the Honor of Kings team. Under coach Glen Richard Pangalila, Indonesia swept all qualification matches — six games, six wins, no losses.

Even more eye-catching: a 77-0 elimination record. Indonesia faced Mongolia, Pakistan, and Uzbekistan in the group stage. The result was not just a win, but a rout.

The numbers are not empty statistics. Rotational coordination, objective control, and the players’ individual mechanics were at a level that left opponents struggling to land even a single return kill. GGWP.id said the dominance puts Indonesia among the teams most likely to be watched closely when the main event begins.

PUBG Mobile and Street Fighter 6 Also Lock In Spots

Indonesia’s PUBG Mobile team is no stranger to Asia’s competitive scene. Since the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou, the squad has remained one of Southeast Asia’s top forces. June’s qualification run showed that position has not changed.

Street Fighter 6 followed. The fighting game event only debuted at the 2023 Asian Games, and Indonesia has now qualified again for the 2026 edition. Two appearances, two tickets. That kind of consistency does not happen by accident.

PB ESI sees the three secured tickets as a strong signal that Indonesia is once again positioning itself as one of Asia’s leading esports powers. Preparation now shifts to studying opponents, with South Korea, China, and Japan set as key analytical priorities because of their history of dominating Asian Games esports podiums.

September 2026: The Real Test

The 2026 Asian Games are scheduled for September 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan. It will be the second time esports appears as a medal event after its historic debut in Hangzhou 2023.

There is still time left. But in esports, that gap can mean everything. The meta can change, new patches can flip the balance, and rival teams will not stand still.

PB ESI now faces a major task: maintaining the form of the three qualified teams while making sure MLBB and LoL also come through before the qualification window closes. If both do, Indonesia will head to Japan with far more firepower than it had in Hangzhou three years ago.

Gold medals are no longer just a target on paper.
