JAKARTA — Indonesia’s esports team has secured three tickets to the Asian Games 2026 main draw in Aichi-Nagoya after Naraka Bladepoint, Identity V and Honor of Kings advanced through regional qualifying. The most eye-catching run came from Honor of Kings, which went through the event without dropping a single point.
The result gives Indonesia real momentum ahead of the Games in Japan. It also sends a clear message: the Red and White squad is not entering just to fill brackets.
HOK delivers a perfect run
Honor of Kings was the headline act. Under coach Glen Richard Pangalila, Indonesia won all six matches and finished with a stunning 77-0 elimination score.
Mongolia, Pakistan and Uzbekistan never managed to score against them. Clean. Relentless. No slip-ups.
That kind of margin usually comes from more than raw skill. It points to sharp communication, disciplined rotations and a team that stayed composed from the opening map to the last.
MLBB and PUBG Mobile still have work left
Not every Indonesian discipline has finished the job. Mobile Legends: Bang Bang began qualifying in Singapore on June 18-21, 2026, and opened with two 2-0 wins over Laos and Vietnam in Group A.
That group is still dangerous. The Philippines and Malaysia are also in it, and both bring heavy regional pedigree.
PUBG Mobile faces an even harder route in Ho Chi Minh City. Indonesia sits in Group A with Thailand, Vietnam, Saudi Arabia and Kazakhstan, which means every round carries weight. There is no room for a bad stretch.
Four direct entries already confirmed
Indonesia has also already secured direct entry in eFootball, Gran Turismo, Pokémon UNITE and Competitive Martial Arts. Those four spots do not need qualifying, which boosts the size and reach of the Indonesian delegation in Aichi-Nagoya.
With eight disciplines in total, Indonesia is shaping up for one of its broadest esports representations at the Asian Games. That matters for medal chances, but it also matters for visibility. More teams mean more shots at the podium.
For fans at home, the stakes are simple. Three tickets are already locked in, and HOK’s 77-0 run has set a high bar for the rest of the squad as the MLBB and PUBG Mobile qualifiers continue.
Coach urges focus, not celebration
Richard Permana, head coach of Indonesia’s esports national team, said the early success should not turn into complacency.
“The success in these three disciplines shows that we can compete at the top level in Asia. HOK’s perfect run is expected to motivate the others. But this is only the first step — the real challenge lies in the main draw, so we will keep evaluating and prepare more thoroughly,” Richard said, quoted by Esport.id.
PB ESI, through the National Team Unit, is continuing to support the athletes’ physical, mental and technical preparation before the main competition begins in Aichi-Nagoya. The next update may come from Singapore or Ho Chi Minh City, where Indonesia will learn whether MLBB and PUBG Mobile can join the three teams already through.
