PANGKALPINANG — The Bangka Belitung weather forecast for Wednesday, June 24, 2026, points to thick clouds across most of the islands, while West Bangka Regency has the highest chance of light rain at 70 percent. The forecast was issued by BMKG’s Bangka Belitung Climatology Station and updated on June 23, 2026.

Temperatures across the province will sit between 24°C and 33°C. Humidity stays high, from 77 percent to 98 percent, so the air will feel warm, sticky, and heavy for much of the day.

BMKG said northeast winds will blow at 16 to 23 km/h. That speed is enough to create moderate sea waves, which matters for small boats and coastal fishing trips.

The forecast also comes with practical timing for residents and visitors. Sunrise is at 5:56 a.m. and sunset at 5:54 p.m., while the UV Index reaches level 7, or High, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. That window is the hottest stretch for people on the road, at markets, or at the beach.

Where rain is most likely

Pangkalpinang and Bangka Regency will stay cloudy, with temperatures ranging from 24°C to 33°C and humidity between 78 percent and 98 percent. The chance of rain is not dominant, but short showers can still appear in the afternoon or evening.

Belitung and East Belitung are forecast to be cooler, with temperatures of 24°C to 30°C and humidity at 85 percent to 98 percent. The skies remain cloudy, but outdoor plans are still possible if travelers avoid the strongest midday sun.

West Bangka stands out. It is the only area with a clear light rain signal today, and BMKG’s 70 percent probability makes it the part of the province most likely to see wet roads and a quick dip in visibility. Motorcyclists should slow down. Fishermen with boats under 5 GT should think twice before leaving port.

Central Bangka and South Bangka are also expected to remain cloudy. Central Bangka will see temperatures of 24°C to 32°C with humidity at 79 percent to 98 percent, while South Bangka is forecast at 24°C to 32°C and 84 percent to 98 percent humidity.

What residents should watch

BMKG Babel has not issued a special early warning for June 24, but the weather still carries a few everyday risks. The first is the humidity. At up to 98 percent, the air can feel much warmer than the thermometer shows, and physical activity outdoors may become tiring faster than usual.

The second is the sun. Between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., UV exposure stays high. People heading to the coast or spending long hours outside should use sunscreen, wear a hat, and bring sunglasses. A short stop in the shade helps too.

The third is the sea. Northeast winds at 23 km/h can push moderate waves into coastal waters around Bangka Belitung. That matters most for traditional fishermen and anyone using small vessels, especially near West Bangka waters where rain is also expected.

The fourth is day-to-day comfort at home. BMKG noted that high humidity can speed up mold and bacteria growth, so clothes need to be dried fully under the sun before being stored.

Three-day trend points to gradual improvement

BMKG’s outlook suggests the weather may slowly improve after Wednesday. On Thursday, June 25, conditions are expected to stay similar, with cloudy skies and temperatures of 23°C to 33°C in Bangka and Belitung.

Friday, June 26, brings the first clearer spell in Bangka, while Belitung is still projected to stay cloudy with temperatures of 23°C to 30°C. By Saturday, June 27, Bangka is forecast to remain cloudy, but temperatures are slightly cooler at 25°C to 27°C.

That shift matters for travel plans. Beachgoers, ferry users, and families preparing weekend trips will likely get a more comfortable window later in the week, especially if they can wait for Friday or Saturday.

BMKG told residents to keep checking official updates through its website and social media account @infobmkg, since weather conditions can change quickly as the atmosphere shifts over the islands.
