Unmuh Bangka Belitung Wins Three Awards at LLDIKTI Region II
Unmuh Babel won three awards at the LLDIKTI Region II meeting in Bandar Lampung, highlighting its research and student innovation strengths.
BANDAR LAMPUNG, Indonesia — Universitas Muhammadiyah Bangka Belitung (Unmuh Babel) won three awards at the annual working meeting of private university leaders under LLDIKTI Region II, held at Hotel Emersia in Bandar Lampung on Tuesday, June 23, 2026.
The recognition came during a forum that brought together campus leaders from across the region to discuss higher education performance, research downstreaming, and student development. For Unmuh Babel, the awards also signal rising competition among private universities in Indonesia as they chase stronger research output and measurable impact.
Research, students, and institutional performance
The meeting carried the theme “Building an Innovation Ecosystem for the Whole Semesta: Downstreaming Impactful Research and Elevating Higher Education Key Performance Indicators (IKU) to Improve Education Quality.” It started at 9:00 a.m. WIB and focused on practical steps universities can take to respond to national development needs.
Unmuh Babel Rector Dr. Ir. Fadillah Sabri, S.T., M.Eng., IPM., attended the forum in person. He joined discussions on student guidance, improving IKU achievements, and strengthening institutional capacity in higher education.
LLDIKTI Region II Head Prof. Dr. Iskhaq Iskandar, M.Sc., used his remarks to push for stronger consortia among campuses. He said public and private universities need to work together so research does not stop at publication.
“Collaboration is no longer optional. Universities must stand as centers of innovation that can offer solutions to regional development problems through research that is practical and impactful,” Fadillah said.
He added that guidance from the Directorate General of Research and Development reinforces the role of universities as agents of change. “Research must deliver real benefits for public welfare. This is in line with the government’s vision for campuses to contribute directly to regional progress,” he said.

During the forum, the university received three awards from the LLDIKTI Region II head:

That has a direct effect outside campus walls. In Bangka Belitung, a province shaped by energy resilience issues, natural resource management, and environmental preservation concerns, universities are increasingly expected to produce research that reaches beyond journals and into policy, industry, and community practice. Fadillah said those regional challenges make collaboration especially relevant for his campus.
“Research must deliver real benefits for public welfare,” he said, framing the awards not as an end point but as proof that the university’s direction matches wider development needs.
Why the result matters for Bangka Belitung
The awards come at a time when Indonesian universities face tighter pressure to show impact, not just activity. The government has repeatedly pushed campuses to improve key performance indicators, and LLDIKTI regions have become important in translating that policy into daily academic competition.
For a university based in Bangka Belitung, the stakes are practical. The province needs more applied research on energy, mining transition, environmental stewardship, and local economic growth. That is why Fadillah’s comments on collaboration carried weight inside the room. He argued that universities should act as innovation hubs, not isolated academic islands.
After the working meeting, Fadillah continued with a coordination agenda alongside the leadership of the Bangka Belitung Association of Private Higher Education Institutions, or APTISI. The meeting covered preparations for the inauguration of the new management board and plans for a National Higher Education Seminar in July 2026.
That seminar is expected to strengthen cooperation among campuses as they work to improve human resources and support regional development. For Unmuh Babel, the timing is favorable. Three awards in one forum give the university a stronger voice in the conversations that will follow.
“Praise be to God, this year we received three awards at once. These belong to the entire Unmuh Babel family,” Fadillah said. “We hope this achievement brings broader benefits to society and motivates us to keep improving in the future.”
