IHSG Close: Jakarta Edges Up 0.08% to 5,034.18 as Nikkei Sinks 5.97%
IHSG closed up 0.08% at 5,034.18 and LQ45 rose 0.67% on November 6, 2026, while the Nikkei sank 5.97% after Wall Street's tech rout.

Indonesia's Jakarta Composite Index (IHSG) ended Friday, November 6, 2026, almost unchanged at 5,034.18, up 0.08%, while most of Asia-Pacific absorbed a heavy technology sell-off. The LQ45 index of large-cap names did better, gaining 0.67% to 517.11.
Jakarta's resilience stood out against the region. The Nikkei 225 closed down 5.97% at 57,434.77, the Straits Times fell 2.17%, and the Hang Seng lost 1.27% to 24,481.86. Shanghai slipped 1% to 3,649.18 and Sydney's ASX 200 shed 0.49% to 9,020.8.
Why Asia sold off
Regional markets followed Wall Street lower. Thursday's US session was brutal: the S&P 500 dropped 4.36%, the Nasdaq sank 5.52% and the Dow lost 3.44%. Asian chipmakers and AI-linked shares led the declines in Tokyo and Seoul as investors questioned whether heavy spending on AI infrastructure will pay off.
Jakarta has little direct exposure to that theme, which helps explain why the IHSG held its ground. The index rose 2.57% on Thursday, so Friday's flat finish came after a sharp advance rather than from a standing start.
IHSG in context
Friday's close leaves the benchmark 41.78% lower year to date and 18.1% lower over one month. It still sits above its 52-week low of 4,904.29, and far below the 52-week high of 9,134.7. The LQ45 is down 38.92% so far this year and 14.63% over one month, with a 52-week range of 488.46 to 893.12.
The rupiah was a little weaker. USD/IDR traded around 18,087 in the afternoon, up 0.09% on the day, while the Dollar Index gained 0.4%.
Investors in Jakarta have spent the week reacting to swings in global risk appetite, and Friday showed a market that is still sensitive to outside moves but was not dragged down by them. The gap between the LQ45 and the broader composite suggests buying was concentrated in the largest, most liquid names rather than spread across the board.
Movers on the IDX
Single-stock moves were wide even with the index flat. GoTo Gojek Tokopedia rose 4.17% to 25, PP London Sumatra Indonesia gained 3.44% to 1,505 and Unilever Indonesia added 2.75% to 1,495.
On the downside, Japfa Comfeed Indonesia fell 6.91% to 1,550, Merdeka Copper Gold dropped 6.81% to 1,985 and XL Axiata lost 6.62% to 1,410. No single cause for these moves was established.
Europe and commodities
European markets were lower in afternoon trading, with the FTSE 100, DAX, CAC 40 and Euro STOXX 50 all down. India bucked the trend, with the Sensex higher.
Brent crude and WTI both eased slightly. Gold fell 0.85% to about $4,079.5 an ounce. The US 10-year yield stood at 4.837% after Thursday's session, and the VIX volatility gauge was at 26.8, down 4.9%.
Bitcoin was steady, after a steep fall earlier in the week.
What to watch next
Attention turns to whether Wall Street stabilises when New York opens, after the Nasdaq's 5.52% slide. Among US earnings, Charter Communications reports Friday, with Constellation Energy, The Trade Desk and Take-Two Interactive due on November 9 and Applied Materials and Cisco on November 12. For Jakarta, the question is whether the LQ45's 0.67% gain can hold if the tech sell-off spreads to other regions. Track the day's prices on the LQ45 page.
