Bitcoin was changing hands at 75,882.51 on Saturday afternoon in London, up 0.19% on the day, as crypto markets caught their breath after a week in which leveraged traders were hit hard. Ethereum added 0.29% to 2,241.90, while Solana slipped 0.21% to 89.87.

The calm is notable because of what came before it. More than $1 billion in leveraged positions was liquidated during the sell-off, with most of the losses falling on traders betting that prices would keep rising. Saturday's small moves have not erased any of that damage.

Where the three majors stand

Bitcoin remains well below its 52-week high of 105,996.59, although it sits comfortably above the 52-week low of 58,558.86. Over the past month the Bitcoin price is down 7.09%, and the decline since the start of the year stands at 13.29%.

Ethereum has fared worse. It trades 24.44% lower year to date and 9.31% lower over the past month, far from its 52-week high of 3,582.62 and not much further above its low of 1,564.82. The Ethereum price page tracks the latest quotes.

Solana, at 89.87, is trading close to where it recovered after the week's slide, with the day's 0.21% dip a small move by the standards of the past few sessions.

What drove the sell-off

Two pressures lined up. Crypto fell alongside technology stocks as an AI and chip rout hit Wall Street midweek, and the AI data center selloff showed how closely investor nerves over the US election were being priced across risk assets. At the same time, US spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds recorded net outflows, removing a source of steady demand just as prices were sliding.

Stocks recovered; crypto is still waiting

Wall Street stabilised on Friday. The Nasdaq rose 1.09% and the S&P 500 gained 0.32%, although the Dow slipped 0.46%. Crypto, which trades around the clock, did not get the same lift: Bitcoin finished the week near its lows rather than rebounding with equities.

US stock, gold and oil markets are closed for the weekend, so Saturday's crypto prices are moving on thin liquidity and without those markets as a guide. Weekend trading is often lighter, which can let modest orders move prices further than they would on a weekday.

How the week looks for traders

The pattern of the past few days has been sharp falls followed by quieter sessions. Forced selling from liquidations tends to cluster in short bursts: once the over-extended positions are cleared, price swings usually shrink, which is what Saturday's modest moves suggest.

That does not mean the risk has passed. The positions that were wiped out were mostly bullish bets, so the market now carries less leverage than it did a week ago, but sentiment remains cautious while Bitcoin sits so far below its 52-week high.

What to watch next

The first test comes when Asian markets open on Monday. Traders will look for whether equity strength carries over to crypto and whether spot Bitcoin ETF flows turn back toward inflows after the outflows seen this week.

The corporate calendar also matters for risk appetite. Constellation Energy reports before the US open on November 9, while The Trade Desk and Take-Two Interactive report after the close the same day. Applied Materials and Cisco follow on November 12. Chip and software results have been a major driver of sentiment this week, and crypto has tended to follow the same direction.

For now, the weekend picture is stable but fragile: prices have stopped falling, yet none of the three majors has made up the ground lost during the sell-off.
